  • Great car for the money - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

We recently bought this car and have put on our 1st 1000 miles. Averaging 27 MPG, really comfortable. High seating, sturdy Volvo chassis, comfortable ride, tight steering radius, huge interior space and good looks make it a worthy buy. Dont pay sticker price! We bought the SE base model for $19k (sticker is like $22,400) by taking an Internet offer in hand from another dealership to them. Performance is better than expected. 6 cylinder automatic transmission does a decent job of finding the right gear and getting you moving. Not a sports car, and it can lag getting onto highways or off the line, but it has everything you need when passing and regular driving.

We just purchased this vehicle so this may be too soon to rate it. However, this is a useful new car owner impression. We were sold on the safety ratings we read and what the dealer showed us. At 63" 195lbs i really appreciate its roominess both in the front and back seats. The trunk is incredibly big. Yet in spite of all this room, the car doesnt look that big. It is also easy to get in and out of as the seat is at just the right level. Driving home from the dealer on two lane country roads the mileage showed 30 mpg. It rides extremely well. It handles great. I had to swerve to avoid a car that pulled out of a driveway and it responded great.

As soon as I saw it, I wanted it. This is my first Ford. The interior styling is elegant and functional. The CVT and the 3.0 six have plenty of power for me. I wanted a car with AWD and not an SUV. Compared to the VW, Subaru and Volvo, I got more car for my money. The car is built well, tight and maintenance free. I had no adjustments or complaints at my first service.

for starters i bought this car brand new, and instantly had issues till its demise. i experienced the wonderful brake drag issue, the so called auto up window game (which is awesome in negative temperatures), the battery constantly lost its charge, replace battery, and repeat, ford never figured it out. then one day the a/c stopped. which in arizona summers is not really that neccessary (haha) they threw parts at it until they replaced everything, and then viola, it worked, and they never knew what did it. running synthetic oil only i had the most beautiful tapping sound under the hood, which was a tsb, but for refused to address. out of all the tsbs for the car 2 got fixed.

  • 500 is a lot of car for the money - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

I just got my 500 and with all rebates it is a lot of car for the money. The size and ride are great and the fuel cost is the best for a large car. So far my 500 has had no problems.

We live part time in Pittsburgh PA and winter in Spring Hill FL. The vehicle has been outstanding in ride and fuel economy; 28-30 on the Interstate. The only fault is too much road noise. We can pack it like a pickup due to the large trunk and the fold down seats. We see many other vehicles advertised but there are too many good points in the 500, especially the ability to have good visibility all around. It is an excellent over the road car. I now have 19,300 miles on it and will be taking a trip to Chicago in August, a round trip to Florida in September and a one way to Florida in November. Our 99 Cadillac will be sitting it out.

I just finished putting on the third set of Ford factory rear brake pads and rotors. My car has 81000 miles on it. Something wrong with this picture. Its not the calipers replaced them the second time.

Just picked up our 500. My wife and daughter drove it for the first two days, city and some highway. Wife likes the ride and enjoys how high she can sit. The daughter is a teenager; need I say more? I get to drive it to work now, Round trip 80 miles 90% highway with speeds up to 65 mph. I like the ride! My first tank of gas got 25 mpg.

  • All Around good car - 2005 Ford Five Hundred

Overall a good car - It has a lot of features that I didnt expect for the price of the car. The "lack" of power is over-hyped. I found the power more than adequate for the size of the automobile. I test drove a Mercedes C240 V6 and it seemed to have less power then the Five Hundred. I believe its automobile writers personal preference than actual performance. I would recommend this car - but please read suggested Improvements).
