  • 1.0 Ecoboost - Fun, cheap, efficient, quick, fun - 2016 Ford Fiesta
    By -

Fair warning that the Ecoboost version of the Fiesta only comes with a manual transmission. Also consider that the front of the car is very spacious and comfortable, but if you push the front seats all the way back youll have trouble fitting anything other than a child in the back. You can fit people back there if you need to, but youll need to schooch forward. I personally dont like to schooch. Its best to think of the Ecoboost Fiesta as a fun and practical drivers car, but certainly not a family vehicle. This car is amazingly fuel efficient while packing way more punch than ANY Prius. When you need to move, youll move and even be pulled back in your seat just a little bit thanks to that turbo. Unlike a Honda Fit, which is also a fairly zippy car, the engine wont be screaming at you when youre cruising on the highway either. The Fiesta hums at a quiet 2,500 RPM when youre moving at 75 MPH. Now, I said you should look at this as a drivers car because of the manual transmission. A lot of driving enthusiasts are going to mainly have their eyes on a Fiesta ST, but heres the rub. The Ecoboost will get you 45 miles per gallon on the highway, is exceptionally quiet and comfortable and has all the power you could ever need in real world driving. Its a much more practical choice and still quite fun to drive. Heres the big thing, though. The Ecoboost is also much, much cheaper. Theres a bit of a trick to this. My Ecoboost had an MSRP of $18,575. It came fully loaded with the moon roof and comfort package (you cant get certain options such as the touch screen system on the Ecoboost.) I got my car brand new for $15,000 with minimal negotiation. The thing is that a Fiesta ST only comes with a manual transmission, but theyre in demand. In comparison, dealerships cant even find somebody to test drive the Ecoboost, because anyone who actually knows how to drive a manual only has eyes for the ST. If you find an Ecoboost thats already on the lot, the dealership will be desperate to ensure you walk out the door with it. You name your terms and theyll jump through the hoops. The 3 Cylinder Fiesta Ecoboost is an excellent combination of practicality, fun and price. A rare hidden gem that will be difficult to ever find pre-owned because youll be hard pressed to find someone interested in selling theirs. Plus, mechanically its just a neat little car. Lots of clever engineering makes it a unique and interesting choice for car nerds.

Im 54 years old, and with the ST Im a teenager again. I have owned 50+ cars, and this one is by far the best handling car I have ever owned. If you like small cars that have great handling, accelerate quickly, and get decent gas mileage - this is your car. The Nav. and Sync are easy to use. The Recaro seats hold you in place really well.

  • Another great hot hatch from the experts at Ford - 2016 Ford Fiesta

As a fan of hot hatchbacks and former owner of an SVT Focus, Id had my eye on the Fiesta ST since it was first introduced. When I heard 2017 was the last year of the current iteration and Ford dealers started to offer incentives on STs, I knew it was time to pounce on this cult car, which has received about the most unanimously positive automotive press I can recall. And amazingly, the ST is as good as they say--a pure drivers car disguised as a "cute" econobox. Ford absolutely nailed the steering, braking, transmission, power, throttle response, and handling with this car. I have driven a few Porsches, and the way the Fiesta ST feels to drive is, amazingly, at a comparable level of precision and balance. If Porsche built an FWD car, this is what it would be like. The SVT Focus was a gem in almost all ways (power was fairly meh, though), but the Fiesta ST is almost shockingly better, except for ride quality (the one impossible-to-deny fault of the ST). Even city driving is enjoyable because of the telepathic, precise controls, small size and nimbleness, and friendly clutch. But twisty roads or freeway on-ramps are the places youll really appreciate how good this car is. Its hilarious fun to drive. Drawbacks: The aforementioned ride, which does smooth out on the highway, but can be brutal on broken pavement. And yes, its small inside. If you routinely carry four adults and their luggage, get something else. Mine is already developing buzzy/rattly interior pieces, and I fear that problem will get a lot worse. Reliability is a concern with Fiestas, and I havent been super impressed by Ford service departments in my area--fingers crossed. Otherwise, I cant find any faults. Its a remarkable car and every drive is a thrill. Its worthy of every bit of the hype.

  • I love my four door "sports" car! - 2016 Ford Fiesta

This car has been wonderful to own. The SE options package is worth it. I like the trunk much better then the hatch back. This car can get over 500 miles per tank with four adults and some luggage. The tires could be a little wider but I have no real problems cornering or stopping. Acceleration is great and if you do not like full auto you put it in semi manual mode to punch it up hills or past cars on the freeway. The sync system has been error free and even connects to a tracphone flip phone blue tooth despite saying in the manual it is not compatible. It will not play "unprotected" mp3s via usb thumb drives but has no problem with mp3s on a CD. Have rotated the tires every 5k -10k and they are getting near the wear indication mark on the stock tires at 32000 miles. I do not expect more then 45k miles out of stock tires anyway....I love my 2016 Ford Fiesta!

  • Got what I wanted but??? - 2016 Ford Fiesta

I was glad a first (2,000 miles) but now I do not know. Car buzzes behind drivers seat, clutch clicks every time I engage it, drivers outside mirror (inside) is smaller than passengers mirror and passengers seat (Recaro) rubs against center console (like it is not centered where it seats) squeaks. I have called 5 Ford dealerships to come in and get it repaired under warranty but most want to keep car for 2 days to fix (without loaner car). What kind service can we expect when they refuse to give me a loaner when I have NO other car?? All this is fit and finish problems. I will update once somebody fixes my car under warranty.

  • Too Much Fun! - 2016 Ford Fiesta

Its a subcompact and the ST model only comes with a manual transmission. Surprisingly lively and more fun to drive around town on a daily basis than my 2015 Corvette and a 2014 Mercedes AMG. Ride is choppy because of the short wheelbase. Instrumentation and entertainment controls took a while to get used to. Great mileage in traffic and on the open road. Purchased as a lease, but now I fully intend to buy it when the lease expires if it continues to perform as it has so far.

  • Excellent commuter vehicle - 2016 Ford Fiesta

I have the automatic with sport shift option. When the car changes gears in automatic it has the sound and fell of a standard shift. I love this feeling. Fuel economy is almost 32 mpg in the city and nearly 40 on the highway. I chose this vehicle because of the low maintenance cost of a small car. i.e. tires, fuel etc.
