  • My favorite beater ! - 1990 Ford Festiva
    By -

I bought my Festiva in 2008 for a cheap work vehicle. So far it has been great. 40-44 mpg average. No problems yet. Fun to drive with 5-speed. Peppy for a 1.3 liter engine. Handling so-so. Heavy steering at low speeds. It is what it is. Not a car for long trips but great around town. Seats actually quite comfortable(I,m 511", 230lbs.) Mine only has 109,000 miles. Ive heard of many with 200,000 or more. Tires not available locally. Tire Rack has them but not as cheap as you would think for 12" tires. Most basic parts are available. This car is so good it makes you wonder what happened to its successor, the Aspire!

  • Almost too well built - 1993 Ford Festiva

Ive owned two of these cars, the last one I still own. Its almost as if this car was built way before its time. Now with gas what it is, I hear less and less laughing. Its pretty obvious in cars of this size bueracracy is the only thing standing between fuel economy and cars that boast of 23 MPG. This car gets 40 MPG all day long. My buddy and I collected 7 of these cars way before cas went up. We made topless parade vehicles, drove them and parted them. Now, we always have parts and drive like-new 93s. It was dumb luck, but oh-so-sweet. I drive mine around town, he bounces back and forth to Key west in his. They are a dream at 70, but commute like motorcycles.

  • Very fun to drive - 1990 Ford Festiva

OK Ford could not of hit the name of this car more perfect, Fiesta. It really is party like fun to drive. Great gas mileage. Im getting 41 mpg city no upgrades. Love the steering and handling. Its not perfect. But if you leave to have fun on some country roads it gets the job done. I put 350 miles on it then fill it up only put a little under 25 dollars in it to fill it up. This car has a lot of room. Im 6 foot 4 and am not cramped. Basically Im saying I will have this car for as long as my family.

  • The original Zoom Zoom - 1992 Ford Festiva

This car has had around 75k miles on it over 16 years. Its a dependable car and fun to drive, with around 33- 37mpg regularly. Even after a t-bone collision (passenger side) and the loss of the front right wheel bearing this car soldiers on. I drive it roughly 180 miles roundtrip every weekend and it continues to impress. Muffler was replaced recently for the second time, car windows are a little sticky after usage in Maine winters. People keep asking to buy it from me, I suspect its the stylish lines and the amazing handling - I can U-turn where SUVs fear to tread. Also has enough power to travel the Blue Ridge trail withouth breaking a sweat. A good and reliable little car.

  • I love this car - 1993 Ford Festiva

I bought this car as an economical way to see my girlfriend at the time who lived 50 miles away. I am 63" but leg room is not a problem with this car, nor is storage for that matter I can haul my pressure washer my airless and all my hoses & gear as well as my 40 & 28 ladders on the roof. Two years after purchasing this car while driving home in a rain storm I missed a turn and me my dog and my Festiva went 80 feet into a ravine. Amazingly the car sustained little damage other then a slightly bent rear axle which I replaced for $100 from a wrecking yard. This is in my opinion one of the best cars on the market. Thats why I am writting this

  • Repair or replace - 1993 Ford Festiva

This car is absolutley a blast to drive. The transmissions seem to be weak, second one in two years but easy to replace had it out in under 2 hours. Brake lines rust through up here. And the rotors are difficult to replace due to hub bolt design as a whole this car is easy to repair I wish I had a whole car lot of them bought it for $200 best thing I ever did. I would not sell it for $2000 now.

  • Festiva reliable - 1993 Ford Festiva

Bought this car from my brother. Great car, good gas mileage, easy to fix and find parts for (except tires!) wouldnt trust taking kids for the fact that its small and not accident friendly! Car has moved from Utah to Arizona to Nebraska and to Texas. Now over 170k wouldnt take it on long trips, but love it for back and forth to work!

  • What a car! - 1993 Ford Festiva

For basic cheap transport this car just cannot be beaten. It behaves like a large go cart on the road, so Id like to think I could avoid accidents in it, but I wouldnt like to be hit by a large vehicle. It gets outstanding gas mileage (35-45 mpg) even with an automatic transmission. Ford doesnt support it well (It is 14 years old after all). It is a cult car of sorts, because it has a small(er) carbon footprint, is cheap and yet is acceptable all weather transport. If more of these were produced I would buy several. It would be nice to have more luxury features. It is basically a "hybrid" car at 1/10th the price.

  • Cant beat this! - 1990 Ford Festiva

This has been a reliable, fun, long- time friend. I bought the car new in 1989. She has maneuvered me from many a mishap, always started except for one alternator change and 2 batteries. My "Car-Car" has 338,000 miles on her and Ill only replace her because shes noisy, and MY older body needs more comfort. I still average 40 miles/gallon (without use of heat or air conditioning. I have never replaced a clutch.

  • Good Commuter - 1991 Ford Festiva

Purchased 2.5 years ago for a commuter car. Reliable basic fuel efficient transportation with no frills. Now has 210,000 miles on it, uses a couple of quarts of oil between changes.
