Overview & Reviews
The Ford F-150 is the star of the long-running F-Series line, which stretches back to the post-World War II era, and millions of F-150s have been sold in that time. Originally conceived as a rugged, no-frills workhorse, the Ford F-150 has since morphed into a well-appointed, versatile rig with numerous trim levels that serve a wide range of shoppers, including weekend warriors who need room for the family and the occasional trip to the hardware store.
The full-size pickup segment is so competitive these days that it's hard to pick a clear favorite. But new or used, the F-150 is a great choice, with recent models offering cutting-edge features like turbocharged engines and the MyFord Touch electronics interface. Thanks to the Ford F-150's countless configurations and incredible popularity, you're almost guaranteed to find one that meets your needs.

Nice job Ford! - 2006 Ford F-150
By Rob - April 27 - 12:00 pmTraded in my 04 Tundra that I had been leasing to purchase the F-150. The King Ranch model could not be matched by any other truck. I had considered the Titan but found that the reliability on the Nissan was less than acceptable. The Dodge had the most horribly unstable ride (felt like I was on a boat) and the Chevy is just plain dull looking. Overall my F-150 has been a real pleasure to drive, you almost forget youre in a truck. But, when you need to pull a trailer or haul a load, the Ford performs like a champ. Not the fastest truck 0-60 (due mainly to its hefty weight) but it will pull just about anything. My biggest complaint is the ride can be bumpy at times due to a short wheelbase.

Fords are junk - 2002 Ford F-150
By LAD - April 27 - 5:38 amI read a lot of the reviews, some say it would be great if not for XXXX. I say it is lousey truck because: At 20K it needed a complete brake job, rotors, included and the seat plastic clips broke. At 40000, clutch went out. Mose said it was a old truck (at 4.5 year?). I have had others last over 200K. At 52K, brakes start acting up. Needed a new brake job, did the pads and turned the rotors. At just under 60K, Brakes are acting up again, and the shops says replacement or rotors is needed. At this rate the cost of repairs is over 1/2 the cost of the truck. Toyota here I come, let the usa auto go under, who needs the junk?? My 4th and last ford

Well Built Very Reliable - 2005 Ford F-150
By bob g - April 24 - 2:42 pmI was a japanese truck buyer for years.. I own a farm in Waco and pull large trailers. I needed something that can pull. My tacoma could not. I bought my 05 Lariat FX4 4x4 Crew brand new with 26 miles expecting to get 80k and dump it. Now i have 211,460 as of right now and has been great. Only repairs were headlight bulbs, tires, fluids, and brakes twice. The 5.4 is a real workhorse and still purs with 211k. Toyota? my tacoma had a new tranny put in at 120k and 195k.. This is far more comfortable. I strongly recommend the Ford F series truck. My next vehicle will be American.

Fords Ford F-150 - 2003 Ford F-150
By Larry Ford - April 23 - 10:00 amThis 5 speed manual V-6 worked like a horse when I recently moved from Weatherford to Ft. Worth. Pulling a trailer loaded down and the cargo bed loaded down to the max, this truck was just the ticket for a full days work. I love my new F-150.

been a good truck - 1996 Ford F-150
By like my ford - April 21 - 10:57 amThis has been a good, strong, reliable truck. Wish i could have found an extended cab for the same price but i am satisfied with the reg. cab. I have warn lockers and prefer them to auto locks. Body style is one of the best Ford has had. 5.8l is strong but only get about 13mpg, and the valves rattle if i dont burn Premium. Two mechanics have been through it and say theres nothing wrong with it. 161,000 miles and am not afraid to go any where in it.

Best truck ever owned - 2004 Ford F-150
By Ben - April 21 - 10:00 amRight now my truck has almost 300,000 miles and I cant say enough good things about it. It has held up so well in basically every aspect. Truck definetly does not drive like a high mileage vehicle. I got the truck with a blown up motor and it still drove! Even with a blown motor! Put rebuilt motor in now truck is amazing. Best vehicle Ive ever driven in super deep snow. It will not get stuck, even when I try getting it stuck. I towed with this truck like a dream and its great. Even trailerling with deep snow is easy. Truck has never broke down on me or previous owner. Love it!

My poor poor bed :( - 1995 Ford F-150
By Katore - April 19 - 9:41 amThe XLT is definitely worth the extra few bucks but I am thoroughly disappointed with the longevity of the bed and front quarter panel in regards to the rust factor. Fords knows for rusting out, the bed body in particular is not the best of design. outside of that, the auto lock in hubs are amazing, the loaded cab is excellent, and the engine and drive train reliability all get high ratings in my book. 5 speed auto transmission would be nice however. For those of you who seem to be confused as to what 1/2 ton means, it is not the towing capacity but the weight of the trucks frame directly relating the strength of the frame to how bad you can beat on it by its weight and thickness of metal.

Gas Mileage Poor - 2006 Ford F-150
By David - April 18 - 10:36 amBought the truck in Feb 06. On board computer rated gas mileage on highway at 11.4, then after 2 months moved to 13.4. Not knowing how accurate this was, I checked the mileage myself 3 times, only to see at best 12.5 MPG. This is somewhat lower than manufacturers rating for this truck. I was greatly disappointed. Had an 02 Sierra with 5.3, got over 18 MPG with it. Ride was better, seats more comfortable. Ford looks good, but mileage not satisfactory.

SKIP THE F-150 - 2004 Ford F-150
By hillbilly - April 17 - 11:36 amI bought this truck with 40,000 miles on it. It is a nice looking truck but looks are deceiving. It drives nice and rides good but the motor went out at 86,000 miles. The 32 valve 5.4 triton is a total disaster V-8 design. The overhead cam wore a keeper off of a valve and it fell into the cylinder ruining the motor. I opted to buy a used engine and still spent over $3,000 getting it back on the road. Also, the rear suspension is soft for hauling heavy loads. Truck now has 107,000 miles on it and Im keeping my fingers crossed. Another thing the front end brake rotors are garbage. I finally went to a salvage yard and got a set off a 07 model and so far are much better quality.
