This Year's Model Updates:

New packages this year include a Work Truck Group with argent bumpers and a vinyl bench seat, and a King Ranch Group with exclusive interior and exterior trim. A 4.2-liter V6 has been added as the base engine, along with a five-speed manual transmission.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, the most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • Who Makes a Better Truck? No One. - 2005 Ford F-150

First off, kudos to Ford on this interior. Anyone who complains about it needs to sit in a 10 year old Dodge and see how far trucks have come. The FX4 has an off road suspension, but on road manners do not suffer. Ive been very impressed with how this F-150 rides. Ford has raised the bar for trucks with this effort.

  • 2005 STX - 2005 Ford F-150

Going from my 2002 F150 XL to the 2005 STX felt like a big step up. It feels good to drive: feels heavy, solid and quiet. Handles great in the snow. On the down side, the pickup is not very good with the 4.6 V8; at least not as good as my 02 was with a 5 speed and 4.2 V6.

This truck is okay, already have a few problems with it starting, and a strange jerk in the transmission, i dont know if it is the console mounted shifter or what.

  • drive train vibratin 3 valve knockn junk - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

Ive been a loyal Ford brand buyer since 65; 23 units to date. My new 150 SuperCab 5.4 is a drivetrain vibrating 3 valve knocking nightmare. The dealer has had the vehicle on three separate occasions with excuses that started with the tires and now says a counter balance is needed to reduce (?) the vibration. I do not care if they changed driveshaft vendors and are having problems. I want a drivetrain that turns true. Period! The new 3 valve setup runs rougher than corn cob. The dealer blames it own Mother Ford and says the techies have not come up with a patch for the computer program that runs the darn thing without disturbing the tranny. I am in shock, mourning and complete disbelief.

  • very good - 2005 Ford F-150

Only drove 250 miles; so far I love it. Also my wife likes the truck. On the gas mileage it is to soon to tell.

  • Great Ride - Poor Brakes - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

Very enjoyable to drive but I have had to replace the brake rotors twice in 15 months. Brake dust is also a nuisance. Fit and finish are nice, very comfortable to drive. Gas mileage is poor - but you have to expect that when you purchase this vehicle.
