Model Overview:

The Ford F-150 is the star of the long-running F-Series line, which stretches back to the post-World War II era, and millions of F-150s have been sold in that time. Originally conceived as a rugged, no-frills workhorse, the Ford F-150 has since morphed into a well-appointed, versatile rig with numerous trim levels that serve a wide range of shoppers, including weekend warriors who need room for the family and the occasional trip to the hardware store.

The full-size pickup segment is so competitive these days that it's hard to pick a clear favorite. But new or used, the F-150 is a great choice, with recent models offering cutting-edge features like turbocharged engines and the MyFord Touch electronics interface. Thanks to the Ford F-150's countless configurations and incredible popularity, you're almost guaranteed to find one that meets your needs.

  • Waste of Money - 2002 Ford F-150

Bought when I turned 16 in 2008 with 67,000 miles on it, 3 years later have 122,000 with all scheduled maintenance. Front suspension is nearly gone, replaced slave cylinder at 71K, shorted plug wires on valve covers at 73K, replaced rear bumper mounts at 75K, cracked the lower manifold at 94K, 95K lost the throwout bearing, 104K had ECU problems, syncros in the tranny are going...poor engineering. Truck does not have any power for passing and barely gets 15 mpg on the highway. Engine is low on torque and unreliable. Dont think Ill ever buy another Ford after this one. Only used to get to and from high school and college and work.

  • Happy New Owner of 2011 Lariat Limited - 2011 Ford F-150
    By -

Have a 2005 F150, best vehicle ever owned and just purchased the new 2011 Lariat Limited. Fantastic truck, all the gadgets you can think of and turn heads everywhere. MPG is ugly but thats expected. Looking forward to many years of pleasure. Considered many other trucks and SUVs but Ford is aggressive on discounts off MSRP. Dont think you can beat the bang for the buck on this!

  • Excellent truck - 2000 Ford F-150

I bought my truck in 2004 to replace a totalled 1997 EXT cab Ram (which was a crappy truck). This truck is has been great. 11 years old and still going strong. Im actually surprised to see people complaining on the amount of power they get out of their trucks. I mean, 4.6L isnt much, but I get tons of power for such a small engine. Ive never had to do any major work and only recently has small things began to go wrong (ABS light, AIR valve, rusted fuel tank straps). Everything else on this truck is in top notch working order. Engine runs great and starts up in the coldest weather every time and the transmission shows no signs of stopping, even with 127000 miles. Next truck will be a f150.

  • 1 year update - 2010 Ford F-150

Its been almost a year. Clocked 33K and heres where I stand so far. I have the ticking engine thing. Doesnt seem to affect anything but I dont like it. The 6 speed has the hunting problem I think everyone else has. Its only bad in town. Mine feels like it drops into gear when I leave stop sign/light. I had the flash done at service but it still bumps. The seat back thing has gone away. Obviously, I got used to it. Still liked my Safari seats better. I rode in a friends 2010 Ram and it rides smoother, even with the 20s. I still like the F150 interior better and my mpg are far better than his. If you can deal with the little defects, F150 is still top competitior

  • My baby is about to come of age - 1993 Ford F-150

Well, 17 years ago I bought my little F150 stepside. It now has 90,000 miles and still drives like new. It has the original everything, clutch, glass, everything except tires, brakes, and automatic window gizmos. The truck starts up and gets me everywhere I need to go. It still pulls the trailer when needed with no problem. As for looks, she turns heads pretty much everywhere I go. The ride is smooth all the time, but put a load in the back and it is like sitting in a rocking chair. This is the best purchase I ever made. Other than regular maintenance, has needed minimal care.

  • Four Years and all is Well! - 2007 Ford F-150
    By -

I have close to 45,000 miles now and still love this truck! I have had one warranty repair, to replace a window switch but other than that no problems. It is without a doubt the nicest truck that I have ever owned. I know somebody with an Escalade my trucks interior is nicer in fit & finish, they are equipped nearly the same and my truck cost $40,000 less! On top of that they had about 15 items to repair at their last service! Ive read about sluggish performance from the F-150, but have not found this to be so. Nor have I had issues with my brakes at 45,000 miles Ive got about 50% of my brake life left and 25% of my tread life left on my tires.

  • LOVED IT FOR FIRST 250 MILES! - 2011 Ford F-150
    By -

Purchased a 2011 XLT crewcab with 5.0 and 355 rear.At only aprox. 500 miles I loved the truck until I put it in 4 wheel drive. The truck had a thumping noise. With a visit to a Ford service center Im told it needs a" NEW " Front axle assy. With four days gone by and still not repaired Im convinced this purchase was a mistake. Its very hard to complete this review when I was only able to use this vehicle a couple of days before its extended stay in repair. Also this truck had a tag on the dash that stated, "selected by Ford for randome testing" Just not the four wheel drive system?

  • What a truck!! - 2011 Ford F-150
    By -

I recently purchase the 2011 F150 Platinum with 6.5 ft bed and the 3.5 l Ecoboost engine. This is an amazing truck. The fit and finish of the cabin is second to none.... Ford has thought of everything. The ride is super quiet and feels like I am sitting in my living room. I have to be careful as to my speed due to the fact that at 55 MPH it feels that I am hardly moving. The truck also looks great from the outside. The 6.5 ft bed is a must on a crew cab truck. It is much more proportional although it makes finding a parking spot a bit harder! I do worry a bit about the open grill for the Ecoboost engine but from what I have been reading it should not be an issue. Overall, excellent truck!

  • Better 2nd time around - 2006 Ford F-150
    By -

I purchased a new 2004 F150 and had nothing but problems, all covered under warranty. Of course this was the new model year out. So I traded it for a 2006 and I only had 2 problems. The 3rd tail light leaked and was fixed under warranty and Seatbelt was put on from the plant backwards. I dont know how that happened. This truck has been awesome since then. No problems since then. I would purchase another considering the new model has better fuel economy and I read it is much more roomier. I have 2 kids, wife and dog and I considered buying a van but I always use the bed for hauling stuff. I just put on vinyl bed cover and it is locked away. Very quiet on the road.

  • Great truck!! - 2009 Ford F-150
    By -

Wanted to write a review right when I got this truck, but figured Id give it a few miles. After only logging 12,000 miles on my previous "brand X" truck, and taking it to the service department monthly, I am extremely please with me F-150. This is my first ford truck, and it wont be my last. Very comfortable, reliable, and tastful interior. It functions great in regular truck duties, and as a family hauler. I found a dealership that sold for $100 over invoice, so I ended up getting this truck for almost $7000 under sticker. Gas mileage is, however, dismal. I dont have a heavy foot, but do drive in traffic daily. I average about 15mpg.
