This Year's Model Updates:

New packages this year include a Work Truck Group with argent bumpers and a vinyl bench seat, and a King Ranch Group with exclusive interior and exterior trim. A 4.2-liter V6 has been added as the base engine, along with a five-speed manual transmission.

Pros:
  • Exceptional ride and handling characteristics, attractive and functional interior designs, multiple cab and bed configurations, the most payload and towing capacity in the half-ton class.
Cons:
  • Feels sluggish even with larger V8, no available side airbags, not much interior storage space.

  • Front Brake Problems - 2005 Ford F-150

I experienced problems when the dealership rotated my tires. They over torqued my wheels and caused warping in the rotors. From that point forward it has been a nightmare. They even suggested it was my driving! Well now in the 4th return, Ford has come up with an updated rotor. So now the truth comes out. But just before this they were going to make me pay for repairing their mistakes. I just question their honesty and integrity.

This is my 2nd F150 in 6 months. I drive for a living and this is the most comfortable truck that I have driven. I love the interior with the FX4 pkg, it is very "user friendly". My wife also feels very comfortable driving this vehicle.

  • Great Truck - 2005 Ford F-150

I have had the two body styles before this truck. Hands down, this is the best F150 they have built. Great driving and running truck. I love the fact that I can have a full size truck with 4 doors and it fits in my garage perfect. I was worried about the 5 foot 5 inch bed but it has never been a problem.

  • EXCELLENT TRUCK - 2005 Ford F-150

Drives better than my wifes 2003 Expedition, better gas mileage than Expedition. Average about 15 mpg town and on the road. You can see the road real well in front of you. Have had no major problems, One minor problem with the trim (double back tape used did not stick in one area), well solid built truck. Ford is putting more quality control into their product.

  • awesome truck - 2005 Ford F-150

Great truck, best looking truck on the market, moves through deep mud with ease. Very cozy ride, new suspension is sweet. Tailgate is light as a feather also since the tire bumpout is in the bed it seems smaller than previous model which equals more bed space

I like the truck a lot. I did have a problem with a vibration in the steering wheel at 55mph and up. They fixed that with new tires. The steering wheel is sensitive to bumps when at highway speed. It does not idle as smooth as I think it should when the engine is cold and some times in traffic. I need to take it in for this. Other than that I like it.

  • Great Truck for a lady - 2005 Ford F-150

I have had my beast for over a year now and I am still in love with her! The drive on the freeway every morning is a breeze and any off roading is just as smooth. It has enough pick up to jump into Houston traffic and it handles quite smooth for its size. It is easy to get in and out of with a skirt and heels the bed isnt too high so I can still reach in and get items I put in the back with ease. The half cab is GREAT for shopping and the extra storage is always a plus. They just need to start making the other cars taller so they can be seen in the rear view!

I wanted a bigger truck to replace my Ranger, but couldnt find what I really wanted - a big truck with good gas mileage. I typically drive a lot of highway miles at high altitude and high speeds on long trips and needed more power, speed and comfort than the Ranger could give and this truck does it all. From carrying 20 8ft railroad ties with the tailgate up to driving 800 miles per day or commuting. I think that with a tonneau cover I could regularly break 20 mpg, I regularly get 19-19.5 on the highway and up to 16 mpg in town. Interior has great space and is well designed. Low wind noise at speed and handles very well. Outright acceleration could be better but torque is sufficient.

  • poor reliability, electronic problems - 2005 Ford F-150

Shifts uneven, no guts, electronic problems at 6000 miles. Otherwise the best looking truck on the road.

  • Incredible Ride, Great Truck! - 2005 Ford F-150

Im still having a hard time believing Im driving a truck because the ride is so nice. Ive made most of my friends and family members take it out so they can see for themselves. Soft, easy, quiet driving that eats up the dips and bumps on highways and back roads. Im averaging 17.6 mpg. Excellent sound system. Convenient instrument panels. Locking tailgate is a must if you go near a city. I love the 22 inch deep bed, and the fact that the bed rail on this 4x4 is high, very high - it prevents an average person from easily reaching in to steal something from inside the bed. Overall a fantastic drive. Ford went beyond expectations with this truck.
