This Year's Model Updates:

Arriving in 2003 for the XLT supercab styleside configuration is the Heritage Edition, which includes 17-inch wheels, a chrome cab step and various stylistic flairs such as a black bedliner, a lower valance, paint striping and a paint scheme with a raised cut-line. Also new is an STX edition for the XL- and XLT-trimmed regular and supercabs that includes an MP3 player combined with a monochromatic color scheme and clear lights, among others. Upgrades for the fancy King Ranch flavor consist of fake wood for the interior, lighted step bars and an in-dash six-disc CD changer. For the Lariat, expect a standard rear window defroster and a Pioneer CD and cassette system (the latter is also newly available on the XL and XLT). Harley-Davidson models have the option of getting a two-tone black-and-silver paint. Finally, a new LATCH system helps you tie down the kiddie seats properly.

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and features, capable powertrains and suspension, attractive styling inside and out.
Cons:
  • Poor IIHS crash test result, everybody and his brother has one.

  • King ranch is tops - 2003 Ford F-150

Lets just say Im a ford person. 1972 f250 4x4 true work horse. 1995 f150 short bed, no big deal. 1997 Lariat supercab, great except for transmission and air noise from third door. But the King ranch has out done anything ford has done before. I have only found a few minor things that I would change. The moon roof should have a auto stop to keep it from going past closed. The 4 wheel select is not in open view while driving. Should be a little more toward the center of dash. And it didnt come with a hat rack on the ceiling. Other than that, this truck is the Cats Meow!!!!!!!!!

  • The SuperCrew rocks! - 2003 Ford F-150

We love this truck! We bought it in Dec. 2002, and have 6000 miles on it. It seats 6 comfortably, rides well (for a truck), 4WD works great in snow, loose dirt and gravel, and has bed capacity to haul sofas, refrigerators, recliners, boards, etc. The optional bed extender is handy. No problems with the truck whatsoever. The power is plenty adequate for whatever I will haul or tow. It is so much more luxurious than anything we have owned before, and light-years better than the 2000 Dodge QuadCab we had. We paid $27.5K for it including the tow package and some other goodies, a bargain in my book for a truck that looks this good and works this well.

  • Great, Solid Truck - 2003 Ford F-150

I sold an anemic Land Rover as I was tired of the poor mileage and awful reliability and the Ford has been fantastic so far. I have the 5.4 engine for towing and the power is great but even better is that Im getting 15 city and 18 highway, which, while not amazing in itself is far better than the Rover (13 highway) or the Dodges (12 highway). That 6 mpg is a 50% increase. The crew cab is fantastic and offers way more back seat room than the Rover and now I can carry dirt bikes in the back which obviously wasnt an option before. The truck can cruise easily at 80-90 and the cabin is extremely quiet.

  • F-150 Comparison to a Chevy TrailBlazer - 2003 Ford F-150
    By -

Previously I owned a 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer SLT. I found towing my 16ft. aluminum boat on a steep grade to be rather poor with the (15.8 MPG Hwy) 5.4 ltr V8. Chevys 4.2 inline 6 cylinder would have dragged this boat to the top while accelerating. I also found the Lariat package of my F- 150 to be rather lack luster. No heated seats nor the simplisity of a pocket on the back of the front seats. Theres no storage room! For the price of this vehicle and the top-of-the-line Lariat package, it should have been much more.

  • Very versatile - 2003 Ford F-150

I bought this truck to replace two vehicles. An old fullsize Chevy truck and relatively new Accord (4dr). However, on some occasions we prefer using this over our Windstar for road trips. If you need to haul 5 people and lots of big stuff (without strapping it to the roof) you cant beat it. Simply put the truck is exactly what I was looking for. I have the 4.6L, get the 5.4L. The 4.6L has enough power for me. But the upgrade is only $500 and I would get it if I were buying again. The difference in economy is not significant. Also, definitely get the bucket seats but get the power adjusting option as well!

  • Best truck Ive ever own - 2003 Ford F-150
    By -

I use to own a Toyota Tacoma and the ride was hard and very uncomfortable for long trip driving. I was not a Ford truck believer until I test drove the F150 Lariat with a 5.4L engine capable of 260 horse power and I was amaze how well this truck is built and the ride is great. I drove this baby from San Jose California to Los Angeles and back and I must tell you that was the most comfortable ride Ive ever had (roughly 400miles.

  • King Ranch Love - 2003 Ford F-150
    By -

I recently purchased the F-150 Super Crew King Ranch 4x2 5.4L. The interior of the truck has a Western leather look and feel that is most appealing. With the 5.4L power plant I feel like the King of the road.

  • 2003 Screw 4wd XLT 5.4L - 2003 Ford F-150
    By -

I usually buy imorts, as I drive vehicles until they die. But with two kids we just needed the extra room. Our maiden weekend voyage allowed us to pack everything from food to strollers. Got 17.5 mpg on our first tank(5.4L) which is close to what I get with my 93 Pathfinder - but this has way more power. Rides great on the highway.
