Model Overview:

The Ford F-150 is the star of the long-running F-Series line, which stretches back to the post-World War II era, and millions of F-150s have been sold in that time. Originally conceived as a rugged, no-frills workhorse, the Ford F-150 has since morphed into a well-appointed, versatile rig with numerous trim levels that serve a wide range of shoppers, including weekend warriors who need room for the family and the occasional trip to the hardware store.

The full-size pickup segment is so competitive these days that it's hard to pick a clear favorite. But new or used, the F-150 is a great choice, with recent models offering cutting-edge features like turbocharged engines and the MyFord Touch electronics interface. Thanks to the Ford F-150's countless configurations and incredible popularity, you're almost guaranteed to find one that meets your needs.

I bought my truck to replace my Expedition. The truck has great interior room that seats six comfortably. Best move I ever made trading a suv for a truck.

  • Solid Truck - 2002 Ford F-150

Second owner, bought the truck used with about 40,000 miles. Just what I wanted: V6, floor mats, ground clearance (for a 4x2). The V6 has lots of torque. Wish that first was the old "bull low" that the pickups used to have. Four wheel disks, chrome wheels are a nice dress up on an otherwise plain Jane truck.

Im the 3rd owner w/ 130,000 miles on a 5.0 V8 and still going strong. Very dependable. Always starts, even in sub-zero Alaskan weather.

  • Dont buy the 4.2 V6 - 1998 Ford F-150
    By -

I had this truck for 7 years and its been reliable until it reached 89,000 miles. Both head gaskets blew, but I found out this is a very common problem for 97-99 F150s with the 4.2 V6. STAY AWAY FROM THE 4.2!

  • Awesome Truck - 2003 Ford F-150

  • Ages poorly - 1993 Ford F-150

My Ford mechanically was a good truck as far as repairs go. The problem is in northern states this truck will fall apart. Rear spring shackles made out of thin gauge steel, rusted through. Oil pan on engine rusted through. Radiator core support rusted through at body mounts. All this on a well cared for truck with minimal body rust. The rear springs were soft for a truck. The 5.0 engine a good motor reliability wise but was a gutless pig. 10 mpg 2WD truck. This model truck was designed in 1980 with yearly updates. Ford was way late in 97 to update their truck. A Chevrolet was a better truck for this year. The Ford was better looking with a nicer interior but a dinosaur it showed behind the wheel.

  • Bad Gaskets! - 1999 Ford F-150
    By -

The truck has been fine and Ive babied it for six years. In the past three years, its been a third vehicle, so hasnt gotten much use. Now I discovered it needs a head gasket replaced! This is a $2,000 job and I find this unacceptable for a babied, 75,000-mile vehicle. Last Ford I will ever own.

  • Best Vehicle I have ever owned - 2003 Ford F-150
    By -

Bought this truck brand new and I will never own a car again. I love the seats and it rides like a Caddy or something on that level. Great for towing and for hauling. I get compliments about this truck all the time even from non-truck fans. Gas mileage is ok but if you are worried about that dont buy a truck. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone!

  • Very, Very Nice! - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

A very well designed truck with an excellent ride, quiet interior and clean styling. Incredibly comfortable interior on long trips, great stereo system takes advantage of the calm interior, "bold" new rear suspension system is a winner, good dampening of frame vibrations. The best half-ton truck on the market.

  • My 2004 F-150 XLT Lariat SuperCab - 2005 Ford F-150
    By -

I have owned six other F-series trucks and this new F-150 is by far the best. The level of electronics is a huge upgrade from previous models. The ride is superb, and the fuel economy for a vehicle this size is good. This is my first super-cab. The styling and increased space is great. The vehicle is a little on the heavy side, but it does not seem to affect the fuel economy much. It should be interesting to see what kind of reliability it has in the long-run. It was truly a good purchase experience, being able to build your style truck with the options required. Some of the new standard features on certain models is welcomed. All in all, quite a vehicle so far!
