Model Overview:

The Ford F-150 is the star of the long-running F-Series line, which stretches back to the post-World War II era, and millions of F-150s have been sold in that time. Originally conceived as a rugged, no-frills workhorse, the Ford F-150 has since morphed into a well-appointed, versatile rig with numerous trim levels that serve a wide range of shoppers, including weekend warriors who need room for the family and the occasional trip to the hardware store.

The full-size pickup segment is so competitive these days that it's hard to pick a clear favorite. But new or used, the F-150 is a great choice, with recent models offering cutting-edge features like turbocharged engines and the MyFord Touch electronics interface. Thanks to the Ford F-150's countless configurations and incredible popularity, you're almost guaranteed to find one that meets your needs.

  • Blown Rear after 1100 miles = F150 - 2005 Ford F-150

The tilt steering wheel lever broke off after 400 miles. The rear end went, needed a clutch pack replacement after only 1,100 miles. I asked that the dealer where I purchased the truck clearly document the issues and resolutions in case I needed to pursue Lemon Laws. They then refused to work on the truck. Ford Motor company no help. I took the truck to another dealer to get it fixed (still lots of shudder / grinding / slipping) then traded it in on a Dodge. This truck cost me a lot of money. I only owned it for ten days.

This has been a great truck. The only problem I have had is burnt out coils on the plugs. I have replaced three in four years which I guess isnt too bad.The 5.4 liter engine has great torque and has easily out run many Chevrolets with 5.7 liter engines. The ride quality is good but gas mileage really blows, I do good to get 14 miles per gallon in mixed driving. But the truck is still tight with no rattles at 71000 miles. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a powerful, reliable truck.

I bought this truck for the price and reliability. I sure havent had any regrets. The gas mileage is, on average, 20mpg. The paint, integrity, hardware, and engine all have held up to their fullest. I definitely would recommend this truck to a friend or family member. I currently have 45000 miles on my truck and it is still going strong as the day I bought it.

  • Not the best Ive driven - 2001 Ford F-150

Truck was great for first 15,000 miles - now I am considering trading it in since I am not convinced that mechanical problems from 15K-26Kmiles are solved. Prefer to take chances with another car/truck/SUV before the warranty expires. Probably will never buy a Ford Truck again.

  • still going...... - 1995 Ford F-150

This is the best truck I have ever owned. I have 175,000 miles on it and it has the original transmission (w/ a shift kit), original engine (5.8L), and almost all original parts. This truck will still outrun my 97 Vortec 350 Z71 Chevrolet with ease. The only parts that I have replaced on this truck are the starter and the alternator. It still gets me to work and through anything I need to get through when Im hunting. This truck should be the role model for all other trucks.

This is by far the best truck I have ever owned. With Unsurpassed Quality !

  • Lots of known Defects - Both Coils & Plugs - 1999 Ford F-150
    By -

It is a nice riding pickup with good ergonomics. HOWEVER, there are major known problems with this pickup and the 5.4L Triton engines that Ford refuses to correct without the customer paying for it. First, the ignition coils are VERY prone to fail. I have replaced 4 of them in the last 6 months - 2 being the same coil. There is also a problem with the spark plugs blowing out of the aluminum cylinder head on the passenger side. Again, Ford will not cover this under ANY warranty program and it is a WELL ESTABLISHED DEFECT. Lastly, since the 4 Wheel Drive disengagement spring is very weak,it will likely not shift out of 4 Wheel Hi Range unless you stop the vehicle and back up.
