Model Overview:

The Ford F-150 is the star of the long-running F-Series line, which stretches back to the post-World War II era, and millions of F-150s have been sold in that time. Originally conceived as a rugged, no-frills workhorse, the Ford F-150 has since morphed into a well-appointed, versatile rig with numerous trim levels that serve a wide range of shoppers, including weekend warriors who need room for the family and the occasional trip to the hardware store.

The full-size pickup segment is so competitive these days that it's hard to pick a clear favorite. But new or used, the F-150 is a great choice, with recent models offering cutting-edge features like turbocharged engines and the MyFord Touch electronics interface. Thanks to the Ford F-150's countless configurations and incredible popularity, you're almost guaranteed to find one that meets your needs.

Bought the vehicle on 22 May 07 with 81 miles on the odometer. Left for Wash D.C. on the 26th to attend the event at Rolling Thunder" memorial. Disappointed with the fuel economy and the black soot at the exhaust pipe. Vehicle drives well but is underpowered on some of the taller hills on Interstate 40. Thinking the pickup is too heavy for a V6 engine.

  • Will It Ever Wear Out - 2000 Ford F-150

I work for a construction company and travel all over the U.S. and average 42,000 miles per year. This truck has never left me stranded even when it had a pre-mature trasmission failture at 65K it still got me back to my home town. (I was 100 miles out) The transmission was replaced and the truck now has 301,500 miles on it and this transmission still is going strong, so I assume the 1st one was a unusual failure. The engine still runs strong but does use a quart of oil between changes, I have the oil changed every 3 to 4 K and the oil allways looks clean. I am going to keep driving it because when it is cleaned up it still looks like a new truck.

  • Everything but the plugs - 1999 Ford F-150

Our F150 is 2WD and has the 4.6 Triton. I have been overall pleased with this motor. It has enough pep to haul me, my pianos, and my piano trailer once or twice a week. When it pulls a trailer I can count on about 14 mpg. Not loaded about 18 and up to 21 even. I pulled a car trailer and an old car home from Montana and it did great! My only gripe is the plugs. I didnt have one blow but had symptoms and took it in and had plugs, wires, the whole shoot and match for about $900. I didnt want to take the chance of blowing a head. If you dont catch that stuff, it sounds like real trouble.

I love this truck. It has good power and it is a very smooth and quiet cab. While the fuel effeciency is poor at best, the truck is awesome.

  • Luv My Lariat - 2004 Ford F-150
    By -

I just bought a used Lariat Crew 4X4. I love it! It handles like a car, much better turning radius than any other truck Ive driven. I feel confident when I buckle my kids in the back seat that they are safe! I think my wife loves it more than I do.

  • New F-150 is best yet! - 2004 Ford F-150

Ive had my F-150 FX4 Supercrew for about 4 months now. The ONLY thing that I found I dont love about it is the gas mileage. I find that a significant departure from what they claim. Other than that, the truck is a pleasure to drive and I love it inside and out. I topped it off with a rhinoliner and an Access soft cover and it was one great truck of utility. Its comfortable for the family and it can also haul a load of cargo--and it looks and feels great the entire time. Im in love with the truck--go drive one, I think youll be in love with it, too!

  • Glad to be rid of this one - 2006 Ford F-150
    By -

My F150 spends way to much time in the shop. In one year, less than 17,000 miles, the following items have failed: Steering rack, ABS sensors(2), 4wd locking hub relay, AC/Heat fan. Each failure required two trips to the shop, one to diagnose the problem and order the parts, a second for the actual repair. In addition, I had check engine light problems twice.

  • Best of the Best in its Class - 2003 Ford F-150
    By -

I have driven other American and Japanise trucks, but none of them had such a great handling and security in the severe road conditions . I have recently driven Dodge Ram, which it doesnt even come close in any catagories to F150 XLT SuperCab FX OffRoad Ford Truck. Ford is the number one Truck maker in America and the World. I will never go back to other Trucks, but F150s.
