This Year's Model Updates:

Besides the introduction of the four-door SuperCrew, America's most popular truck receives only minor changes in 2001. Power adjustable accelerator and brake pedals are now standard on all F-150 Lariat models and optional on XL and XLT trucks. The Work Series model is no longer available, but there is a newly created Work Truck option group that deletes certain equipment from the XL model. Child safety-seat anchors and four-wheel ABS are now standard equipment on all trucks. XL and XLT trucks have upgraded standard-equipment radios.

Pros:
  • Wide range of configurations and optional features, capable powertrain and suspension, attractive styling.
Cons:
  • Everybody and his brother have one.

Since I purchased my 2001 Ford F-150 XLT Extended Cab, I have been totally dissatisfied with the comfort of the cloth captain seats and low position of floor console.

  • Better Than Any Truck On The Road - 2001 Ford F-150

I just turned 19, and my mom and dad bought me this truck 4 months ago after I flipped and totaled my 02 4-door Ranger Edge Plus. My mom has a 4.6, and I wasnt expecting my 5.4 to have that much more power. I was wrong. It is listed as having 260 HP, but I believe it has more. I have had some truck experts I know that say it pushes almost 300. The gas mileage is low, but considering the size of the engine, it is rather good. It gets much better mileage than my girlfriends Avalanche. The body style is great, interior is also very stylish (do not get the leather, as it tears easier), no need for 4WD (I didnt need it, and I get through mud holes fine), it is a great, comfortable ride.

  • Great Truck - 2001 Ford F-150

I have owned this truck for two years and it does everything a full size truck should do, and does it well. It tows my camper, its great on family trips, and you never have to worry about throwing whatever in the back. The bed extender really helps for those longer items. Its also very comfortable and easy to drive.

  • F150 was great - 2001 Ford F-150

This truck runs great, gets 21 MPG highway and has plenty of power. Im going in for a brake job at 59,000 miles and had no other problems. Shifts well, the 4.6 liter engine is smooth and delivers 231 HP. Lots of space and passengers love it too. Bed is 5.5 feet long but served me well as I can easily put 4x8 sheet of plywood in. Other trucks including 6 cylinder Rangers, Toyotas and Dodges just dont deliver the gas mileage that this truck does.

  • My first pickup - 2001 Ford F-150

I moved from an SUV to a pickup of equal weight. I find it more comfortable, but more difficult to handle because of the extended wheelbase. Stopping distance is not as short as I would like. The automatic braking system prevents skids but does not seem to respond briskly enough for my taste.

  • V6 XLT Sport - 2001 Ford F-150

Car has been very reliable and fun to drive. The only problem I ever had was the seat belt retract system on the driver side. Would like to see more power out of the V6 in the future.

  • Love that Truck - 2001 Ford F-150

I have loved owning this truck! It gives me the flexability of owing a truck with room for a couple of Children in the back and room to spare. My wife is able to handle it around town and it rides smooth on the open road.

  • Awesome Truck to Keep for Years - 2001 Ford F-150
    By -

This is a truck I will have for years to come. 4WD and offroad capabilities are outstanding on rocks and in mud. The saddle leather is awesome but needs to be cleaned with saddle leather conditioner instead of regular leather seat conditioner, which my dealership doesnt sell. Only problem has been with the ignition tumbler getting jammed. The short bed has met all my needs for a truck with the bed extender.

  • Tire Smoking Fun - 2001 Ford F-150

I sold my Corvette for this lightning. I enjoy the truck much more. Its faster, gets more looks and you can tow your boat anyplace you like in "lightning fast" time. I will be keeping this truck for a while, at least until the 2003 comes out.

  • same old Ford quality - 2001 Ford F-150
    By -

Had very good luck with the newer styles compared to the 1995 styles in which I had a load of problems. Good design and a lot of engineering have improved the F150 2000%. Reliable, comfortable, and easy to drive.
