  • Own up to your problems Ford or we wont own You! - 2011 Ford F-150

Do Not buy a Ford Ecoboost. My husband & I bought a 2011 Ford F150 Ecoboost we loved it so fun to drive, but 70k miles in we started having engine issues. Took it in to the dealer for them to tell me the timing chain was shot and it was a $4k fix with no guarantee that it would fix the problem. A quick google search of this vehicle and I was shocked to see we were not the only one with this same exact issue. There are YouTube videos and forums galore about this engine issue and No recalls from Ford. We got rid of it yesterday before it left us broke and on the side of the road. I wont be returning to a Ford anytime soon after that bad taste in my mouth.

  • Mediocre - 2011 Ford F-150

I bought the 2011 XLT 4x4 ecoboost supercrew as I needed a larger truck for kiddos. Having driven a Tacoma, that I LOVED, for 13 years, the Ford was going to have to win me over. The acceleration was strong, and the tech features on the inside were pretty good, but thats where the positives ceased. The looks were bland. As others mentioned, the fuel economy was well below advertised - 14.5mpg in mixed driving in the winter. The turbo would flutter on and off under very light acceleration. I didnt want to be holding the bag when it fell apart so I sold it. I come from a Ford family, but if this is what the best selling truck is. No thanks. Im driving another Tacoma(4D), and love it.

  • Really Wanted to Love This Truck - 2011 Ford F-150

Was happy with it until after the 36000 mile warranty ran out. Synch quit working twice and the service manager said that had been an "Issue." The stereo became "Possessed" and would scan continuously and would just have to turn it off for a few hours. Then, the transmission would occasionally slip out in the hills and far from dealer or help. Unfortunately, it was an intermittent problem and dealer couldnt find it? Then there was the head light switch that quit working and trip set, etc, etc. Electronics failing right and left at 50K miles. The visibility was very poor. I had to remove all the rear headrests to see well. The beds sides were weak a trucks bed should be stronger.

  • Ecoboost problems with power and MPG - 2011 Ford F-150
    By -

I purchased a 2011 Ford F-150 with 3.5L ecoboost with the hope that it would be a good vehicle. When I first bought the truck I was getting 15 MPG city and 22 MPG highway. After only 8000 km of mileage, I was seeing a drop in fuel economy and power. I was only able to get 10 MPG in city and 17 on the highway. The motor was also more sluggish with increased turbo lag. I tried to have the problem fixed by the dealer on 5 separate occasions without anything being done and no actual problem being identified. The truck appeared to be dying and ford was unable to determine why. After 12000 km, I decided to trade it in on another brand of truck. This will be the last Ford for this customer.

  • Ecoboost performance issues - 2011 Ford F-150
    By -

Ecoboost provides excellent performance when it runs right. One year later and multiple trips to the dealership to remedy an intermittent power loss and missing on hard acceleration. Gas mileage has been a disappointment. 17 highway and nowhere near the 21 advertised. Plenty of power to tow my classic car and enclosed trailer, but I avoid towing. Cant stand the 5 to 6 mpg when towing. My last service at the dealership was for the 30k service. Found out later I got stiffed for a $200 trans service they never did. When I followed up with the standard customer survey and gave an honest rating I got a nasty text message from technician.

  • Bad Transmition - 2011 Ford F-150
    By -

I bought my truck on a Thursday with about 17000 miles on it by sunday the transmition was slamming down from gear one to two! It runs well but when pulling off you can feel the transmition shift rough and it slips from the upshift from 1 to two also. Im disappointed at ford for this. After web research I found that this is a common problem with this model and ford doesnt know how to fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3.6L V6 Ouch! - 2011 Ford F-150
    By -

I purchased a 2011 F-150 Crew with 3.7L V6 mainly for gas mileage. 2 months later when the temperature outside got over 90 and in traffic, the truck had a vibration or resonance in the cab when idling with A/C and cooling fans running. I brought the truck to the dealer, but they could not find anything. I noticed another F- 150 with the 3.6 V6 that had revisions to the exhaust piping (Braided hose right before muffler and different mounts). I showed a picture to the Service Rep. He said he asked Ford Hot Line and they know nothing about it. I feel the vibration was coming from the exhaust system. It was so annoying, I traded the truck in for an Fx2 with 5.0L, big difference.
