Overview & Reviews
The Sport Trac is an offshoot of the SUV. Basically, Ford has grafted a small cargo bed to the back of a heavily revised Ford Explorer.
- Unique combination of cargo bed and regular SUV, strong V6, optional cargo items improve versatility.

Could be much better!! - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By Drewdawg - June 2 - 2:00 amWhen driving the Sports Trac around town I had noticed a squeeking sound when stopping but did not think of it as a problem. But about 1000 miles later I found out i had no pad or rotor left in the front disc brakes. Also during Highway driving i had to listen to a annoying wissling sound comming from the drivers side and passengers side windows. But over all the truck is fine just need to have better fuel mileage and fix the brake and wind noise problem!!

NO MORE ST - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By NO MORE SPORT TRAC - April 26 - 10:00 amBRAKES AND ROTORS HAS TO BE CHANGED LIKE OIL. NO GAS MILEAGE. STEERING NEEDES IMPROVEMENT, ALSO, HANDLING. BLACK PAINT CRACKING AT 1 YR. OLD, MANUFACTURER WILL NO NOTIFY CONSUMERS OF THIS DEFFECT. A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY TOLD US THAT WORKS AT THE BODY SHOP. SO, IF YOUR TRUCK IS BLACK, HAVE IT PAINTED BEFORE END OF WARRANTY

01 Sport Trac - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By stl owner - March 29 - 10:00 amLove the look of the truck and the interior size. Hauls family well. However, had it in the shop for the first time after owning it for 1 month to replace the thermostat. Ive now replaced three thermostats, 2 waterpumps, brakes, rotars, and various sensors. I no longer have any trust in this vehicle for traveling long distances.

Best Truck Ive Ever Owned - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By J Ketchum - March 17 - 2:46 amI was driving to the Jeep dealer to trade in and buy a new Jeep when I saw the Sport Trac. I stopped and looked at the truck, with no sales pressure I went for a test drive and loved every minute. I got a great price and drove home. After 105k miles this truck has never let me down. I can`t say this about the imports Ive owned.

Ok, but could be better - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By drew - January 2 - 3:43 amWas fine till O/D light blinked, then transmission work, then ball joints, brakes etc. Keep up with those and its a decent vehicle. Mileage is kinda bad, but decent overall. Had other SUV vehicles that were worse. Sure there is some maintenance expense, but not like other vehicles.

A solid vehicle - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By JHarbs - December 26 - 10:00 amI have driven several Fords over the past 25+ years and none compare to my Sport Trac. I totaly love this truck. I have 2 small children and it handles my family and needs quite nicely. I sometimes wish for a longer bed but I knew how long it was when I bought it right? My wife drives an Explorer also but jumps at the chance to take my Sport Trac every time. The seats are comfortable and the for a V-6 has great power. To every one who read the Consumer Report on the Sport Trac, remember opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them and some stink! Hats off to Ford on the Sport Trac!!!!!
