Noise????? - 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By ben13 - September 23 - 10:00 amI owned an Explorer (02) which developed low hum in rearend around 40 + MPH. The dealer tried several fixes and finally said live with it. I decided to trade in on sporttrac (03) no hum initially, but guess what after about 2K miles the old hum is back only louder and more annoying (riders notice it immediately). A local Ford dealer had a gtreat fix - ride with the radio on!!!!! Thanks ford. Ive had several ford products over the last few years and this one is the last.

Great SUV for the Money - 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By Andy Z - May 18 - 10:00 amCost me about $16995 plus tax with all the rebates and discounts. Great vehicle for the money. Would have loved better fuel economy -- but its a SUV so what do you expect. Very practical for around the home -- 5 pass and a pick up bed with a cover -- cool

A good mix - 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By Dan - April 1 - 11:20 amI absolutely love the versatility of this vehicle. Ive loaded a fridge, mountain bike & TV stand in the back and carried 4 adults in the cab. You just cant beat that versatility. Its not a superior truck, nor a superior passenger vehicle. If you need a dedicated truck, buy a truck. If you need an SUV to haul the family, buy an SUV. However, if you want a vehicle that performs both jobs well (not perfectly, mind you) then you cant go wrong with a Sport Trac.

Not perfect, but not bad - 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By AA - May 2 - 12:43 amAfter 110000M, its still going strong without any mechanical failures. Just the basic maintenance required. It has excellent fuel consumption, compared to my Tahoe. Of course, you trade off horses when you go into a V6 but its enough to do most things that can be done with a 4 foot long box. Outside styling looks very sporty and the paint has a tough anti scratch coating. The suspension is a little too soft for spirited driving, but the truck still handles very well on the road. Very comfortable front seats. Dunno about back ones, never been on them. Havent heard complaints about them though. The tail of the truck is a extremely light (fiberglass box), but nothing some sand bags wont fix.

Fun to drive anytime! - 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
By ajbran - February 15 - 10:00 amThis hybrid of an SUV & pick-up truck is everything I had expected it to be. The V6 engine is quite responsive with plenty of "get-up-and-go" when needed on the road even when you have the air conditioner running. The no-frills interior of the XLS is very comfortable with some easy to reach amenities. There is plenty of leg room in the back for three adult passengers and my two kids really enjoy having the elbow room to spread out and keep their distance from their sibling rival. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for an alternative to the standard SUV or those that are sticker-shocked by the large crew cab truck prices.
