  Automatic versus Manual - 1993 Ford Escort

  Before I owned this car, a manual transmission 4 door wagon, I owned the same thing, except for in an automatic form. My opinion, the manual is the better of the both. Even my wife loves driving it, which is odd, because shed always prefer automatics. It can get a little dicey in the winter, especially where I used to live in B.C., but its the funnest car Ive ever driven. I could have a little more leg room, but Im only 5 foot 8, so it doesnt matter. My Escort is the plainest Escort you could ever get, but for some weird reason, it has power mirrors. The seats are manual, the locks and the windows. But thats what I love about this car.

  172k and still kicking - 1993 Ford Escort

  I bought my car 5 years ago with 77k. Repair work has been very reasonable. It wasnt until the car hit around 150k that the engine needed some work. And within the last year I just had to replace the brake pads and the altenator. But when your car has 170+k you cant complain. This car is the best car anyone in my family has had.

  I bought my wagon two years ago, not knowing it would be the greatest used car I have ever purchased. Excellent gas mileage, and lots of room for storage. Sure, lots of new parts are on this wagon, but the Mazda powerplant still runs flawlessly at 150K miles.

  Wicked little Beater - 1993 Ford Escort

  Only replaced minor things. Biggest problem was the heater core at around 150xxxmiles. Just replaced the brake pads (front), minor tune ups, oil changes, etc. The AC leaks somewhere but its not a problem since I use the car as a winter beater now. It gets GREAT mileage. The clutch needs to be replaced soon. Changed 4 winter tires (13" lol).$300bucks installed. Once went on fishing trip, you guys wouldnt even imagine. 6 passengers! (1 guy in the trunk lol). One cooler full of beer, portable bbq, tackle box, rods, etc. We must of had a combined weight of 1200lbs. Performance thrown out of the window. I love this car!

  Reliable - 1993 Ford Escort

  I bought my car from a private owner in September of 2003 and I can honestly say I did not want the car. I wanted more of a sports car. But I have been completely satisfied with my car. It is not the best looking car out there but I have had absolutely no problems with it. My car has high mileage and is still very reliable. I drive it alot and I definately dont drive it easy. My 1993 Ford Escort is a strong and very reliable car. I am pleased.

  My mom bought the car in 1997 and the only money she has had to put into it was basic maintenance. It was mainly used around town but is great on the highway as well. It is now my college car and a lot of miles have been put on it, and has always been driven very hard yet runs amazingly. The body has always been poor but mechanically it cant be beat.

  Ive had this car since it was new and it has never failed to get me where I want to go. It has been kept outside, and has always started, at 95 degrees or zero degrees, just turn the key. The kids are older now and we need something that holds 6 people, which is the only reason Im going to sell it.

  I have had this car since it was one year old. It has been a great car and it would have been even better had I not taken it to som horrible mechanics. It is getting old now but it is so economical that I just refuse to let go. The dogs love it too. It is perfect for them.

  Incredible Reliability - 1993 Ford Escort

  I bought my LX sedan used with 16,000 miles on it, and have since put on 130,000 more miles. I have replaced the clutch at 130,000, put in a used rebuilt A/C at 110,000, otherwise routine maintenance, tires, etc. I can cruise on the highway very easily at 85mph and this car is as solid as a rock, no shakes or rattles. I dont worry about door dings, grocery carts because it is an Escort...bring it on! It still has tremendous pep in the acceleration with the manual tranny. For the money spent, this has been an amazing car and I will have a hard time giving it up.

  Used to drive my moms 96 LX around with the weak 88 hp engine, my GT makes 40 more hp and the difference is unbelievable! I drive this car around 100 miles per day for both work and school and at 100,000 miles, it still refuses to leak a drop of anything. The only repairs have been the replacement of maintainance parts such as brake linings, and rotors. The mazda engine, 5 speed, and sport tuned suspension makes this car a blast to drive.
