  most reliable car Ive ever owned - 1994 Ford Escort

  At 200k+ miles, this ten-yr.-old wagon still runs like a champ. Apart from normal maintenance, it has not required any big-ticket repairs. No frills, but good heat/AC, good cargo space, and surprising get-up-and-go. Perfect for errands around town.

  I got this car 5 yrs ago and unfortunatly Im getting rid of it soon. Its been a wonderful, relyable car since the day I bought it. Few minor fixes and maintenance along the way, but nothing thats not expected from a car that was 8-9 yrs old at the time and never had that maintenance. Its got 96k miles on it and I would definatly expect it to last at least another 50 if its taken care of. Outside of oil changes and tire rotations Ive probably had it in the shop for repairs twice. Pretty good in my opinion when I bought the car after it was 5 yrs old. It would be a definate good buy for a first time driver.

  I get 28-34 mpg, have had very few mechanical problems, good stability in difficult, almost accidents. very inexpensive transportation for cost per miles, including purchase price. Has lots of room for hauling things around.

  I bought my EGT in early 2001 and loved every moment I owned it (up untill a TAXI wrote it off, you bastard). The car is a BLAST to drive (if you drive it normally your happy, if you like to have a bit of FUN with your car then youll be laughing, Trust me). The car accelerates VERY good for a compact (thanks to the Mazda engine) and it handles very well (thanks to 4 wheel independent suspension). Braking is phenomenal (thanks to 4 wheel disc brakes). All in all, if your gonna buy one, look to see if it was taken care of (oil changes, regular maintenance, and stuff like that). Take care of it if your get one and you wont be disappointed. Trust me.

  I bought this car back in august for 1200. This was my first car, and i didnt expect much from a ford. All the car needed was new brakes, sounded like a school bus coming down the street. After that, it runs great. 5 Speed manual trans. gives good acceration, especially for a 4 banger, execpt with ac on!

  if youre looking for a great little second car this is the one. space for groceries and a kid or two. good a/c,good gas mi and ok ride.for the price you couldnt ask for more.

  I bought this 94 Escort wagon (70K) in 98 for my High school daughter. At 90K we lost the AC and paid about $1200 to replace. Since 95K, Ive had it in the shop continually with engine troubles. At 103K mi, an $85 diagnostic revealed a dead cylinder due to a burnt valve...needs a $1000 valve job. I sold it to a mechanic for $500. I suspect that my daughter burned up the engine (driving too fast, accelerating too fast, passing, gunning the engine) although I kept the oil changed every 3000 mi. Im replacing the Wagon with a 98 Escort LX sedan (47K mi), but this time Im getting a 5 speed. I expect the AC will fail around 80K.

  The Escort runs great at 109,000 miles on it. It is a bit sluggish accelerating, and it takes about 4 seconds to get to 40 mph on the highway. The car needs bigger cup holders, because they only fit soda cans. The Hazard flasher button is stupidly placed behind the steering column, but otherwise the controls are fine. I get about 370 miles on one tank of gas, and this is stop and go traffic to work. Overall it is a great car for a new driver, and very economical.

  I love my escort. Been looking for one for my daughter who drives soon. Simple yet comfortable small car. No major probles but brakes and a thermostat. This is a excellent 2nd family car!
