This Year's Model Updates:

The 2004 Ford Escape remains largely unchanged although the price has been lowered on the plush Limited model and certain appearance packages are now available on lower trim levels which, in effect, reduce the final price. Also, Chrome Yellow is no longer a color choice. To eliminate confusion, trim levels and option packages have been consolidated.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6, large cargo capacity, comfortable interior, carlike handling.
Cons:
  • Weak standard four-cylinder engine, bland interior design, small gas tank size limits range.

very nice suv very roomy inside nice interier very comfortable seats very good milege for the type of vehicle from far away it looks bigger then it is its pretty close to a explorer but not as wide good power no hesitation at all sometimes i wonder if it is to much engine for this suv comes with almost all the bells and whistles.

Like the title says, I own both the Escape and Tribute, and must admit, both are terrific vehicles. I dont normally like SUVs at all, but these twins ride like cars, have very comfortable interiors (though there is too much reliance on hard plastic pieces), and plenty of power from the V6. The engines quiet, wind and road noise low, and the cars are great on trips. I can drive them for hours without tiring. Other than the bargain basement interior, I dont have any complaints.

I love my Escape. Compared to my Mustang and my wifes Explorer it rides like a cadillac. Its well built and handled well in the snow. Love the power moonroof and 6 disc CD player. Only drawback is gas mileage. Averages 18 mpg and has a small gas tank(16 gallon)

This SUV is fun to drive. It is spunky with plenty of power. The interior is nicely laid out, with more room than you would think. The seats are stiff, but hopefully they will soften up a bit after some use. I can fit plenty of things in the back. A stroller, a golf bag, plenty of groceries, and even my sons little bike. For the money this vehicle is a great deal.

Ive had my Escape for approx. 3 months now. It handles very well for an SUV and feels very safe, except in rain or on hills. The front wheel drive is very jerky in these conditions and squeals your tires. Its a fun car to travel around in with all your friends or family, but with the windshield wiper handle directly in front of your gear shift they are easy to confuse.

I wasnt looking to buy a new vehicle but after one test drive I knew I needed this SUV. The Escape is just the right size. Not too big, not too small. I am a smaller woman 53 and I did not feel out of place in this SUV. I love my Escape!

Im new to the SUV market. I traded in a Ford Taurus which was loaded with options and a great car, but was looking for something different. I guess I have to get use to driving an SUV. The Escape handles well, but a little disappointed with some features and interior design. For instance, the shift on the column, havnt had one in years. It gets in the way since it sticks out so far and you cant see what gear your in when the wheel is turned.

It looks and handles great. It has a lot of pick-up and has a little extra when you go to pass someone on the highway. We love the interrior space, that was a big selling point. My Wife and I disagree on the comfort. She has found the seats to be very hard and somewhat uncomfortable, but it does not bother me. We drove several other Small SUVs on the market, Honda C-RV, Jeep Liberty, and the Santa Fe. None could match power, pick-up, handling and the over all comfort of the Escape.
