  • Old Reliable - 1997 Ford Aerostar

After 8 years and 142,000 miles, this old van is the most reliable and practical vehicle I have ever owned. Its the kind of truck I want to hold on to if I can just find a mechanic I can trust to nurse it along. Fortunately, I havent had to do much to it so far other than normal wear and tear issues. If you can find one with low miles get it. Chances are its got a lot of life in it. My engine still does not burn oil between changes and I get 20+ per gallon on the road.

  • Not a bad vehicle - 1993 Ford Aerostar

I bought this vehicle to use for a courier service. I have put 10k on it since the purchase over 2 months ago. Was doing pretty good, then the transmission went. Such are the joys of a used vehicle without maintenance records! If you need a cheap minivan thats cheap to maintain, these are still a good purchase. Just look out for body rust (especially along the seams on the roof), electrical problems (power windows and locks) and transmission noises/leaks are bad news in this van. Braking is good, but these vans are known for chewing up front pads/rotors, since the front brakes do all the braking. The AWD (also known as E4WD) version can be expensive to fix.

  • I liked it. - 1990 Ford Aerostar

But, you have to replace the transmission, Ive had two Aerostars and had to replace the transmission in both of them, but otherwise, I really liked the van.

Van has 271,000 miles on it. Still drives well, extremely reliable. Only minor repairs. Nothing exciting about the design, but very practical with lots of storage. Gas milage is very good, considering it is a box.

  • 1996 Aerostar XLT - 1996 Ford Aerostar

We bought the 1996 Aerostar XLT new and have 93,000 miles on it. I love the elevated rear passenger seats, great air conditioning, and space. However, there is no place on the outside of the van to set your coffee cup while you look for your keys. I have also had too many drinks spill in the poorly designed front seat beverage holders. I wish I had waited until 1997 to buy. The last remaining 1997 models sold for $12,500 in Fresno, CA as opposed to the $21,000 I paid for the 1996. For any of you who wonder, you can easily have the inside door panels repaired so they dont begin to partially drop off.

  • Good Used Vehicle Purchase - 1993 Ford Aerostar

Purchased my Aerostar as an in-between vehicle. Recently had family addition and needed room for family of five. This was a quick purchase without much thought. Have had to make several repairs since owning but have grown to love the vehicle. Replaced front axle, lower control joints, brakes, resealed windows, thermostat, water pump, shift control cable, middle bench seat, third door panel and radio. Even after all that it still cheaper than purchasing a newer van. With the exception of a pesky oil/transmission leak, which I will take care of soon, we have come to appreciate the van, especially the full time all wheel drive.

Other than a thermostat replacement, new brakes, and tires, this van has been trouble free for me for over 5 years.

  • 4WD Aerostar - 1995 Ford Aerostar

This 4 liter 4WD Aerostar has been a very dependable and very versatile vehicle for our large family.

  • No Problems - 1997 Ford Aerostar

Purchased my Aerostar at a GSA Public Auction July 2002 for $4,500. It has a new 6 cyl engine and the body and inside were perfect. It has given me lots of pleasure as I like to sit up high and enjoy the view. If I fold down or take out the back seats, it will take 4x8 sheets of plywood and more.
