  • Bad Transmissions - 1990 Ford Aerostar

I bought mine from a crooked used dealer (arent they all?). The radiator fluid was burning out the tail pipe so I put in some stop leak. This may have caused some other problems but a lot of things just fell apart because Ford stands for Fix Or Repair Daily. The A/C stopped working, the heat sucks in the winter. The drivers side power door lock stopped working. I was told I needed to replace the transmission ($1500 Canadian) last year and have been able to drive it still but it revs high for a few minutes before it kicks into 2nd gear every time you turn it on and it wont go into reverse now when its been driven a lot. The gas mileage is HORRENDOUS.

  • Family Van + Dog - 1992 Ford Aerostar

Our van just goes and goes. It has great interior room for kids, dog and luggage. We have traveled accross country several times. Regular maintenance keeps everything running, warning lights actually do mean something. This has also been a great car to teach teenagers to drive. Safe!

No major mechanical problems, very reliable. After going 90,000 miles, I have not had to do any maintenance other than oil changes.

Other than some problems with the A/C, we havent had any problems in 132K miles. From Fla, to New Orleans, to New Mexico - this van has never left us on the side of the road.

I owned three Caravans before giving Fords ugly duckling a try. May be the best overall vehicle I have ever owned. Practical. Comfortable. Problem free. A great value. Onof of those cars that comes along every now and then (Like the VW Bug) thats not flashy or fast, but you just get hooked on. I too would be first in line to buy another one if Ford were still makeing them. As such, Ill hold on to the one Ive got as long as I can.

  • Very Dependable - 1994 Ford Aerostar

This is a very dependable van. I have had this van for 8 years, 173,000 miles, and never broke down. Most dependable vehicle I have ever owned.

  • Like brand new - 1993 Ford Aerostar

This van was 1 year old when we got it and all we have done is change oil, tires, brakes and other routine items. There is 1 small rust spot about the size of a quarter under the right door but that is it. I didnt have a lot of hope for this vehicle with a young family but it has held up amazingly well.
