The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.

At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

  Being that this car is 13 years old things do go wrong. Bun if you are in to making horsepower and excellent handling, this is it. DSMs are some of the most amazing cars cars built and are fairly easy to modify for crazy amounts of horsepower.

  Good Car for the Money - 1994 Eagle Vision

  Weve had this car for over 8 years now and it has been overall a good car. Its had some problems, mainly the A/C and we replaced a tie-rod end and sway bar connecters in the front, but overall its been good. I change the transmission fluid every year, which might be excessive, but ... Its real fun to drive, has lots of room, and lots of options. Rides great.

  Most people dont like these cars, think they are not reliable. They are reliable, and a great platform for upgrades, they just require a little more maintenance then most other cars. All in all, these cars are great, im a big fan of DSM cars, and Talons have great stlying and performance. The 420a engine is a great platform for upgrades, including turbo.

  I bought it after one drive because of the stability of the AWD and the mid range power. Ive gotten over 30mpg on the highway. It gets its best mileage at about 80. With the leather and all the options it is an elegant car that is always fun to drive.

  I bought this car about 9 months ago and I have been very impressed with it. The car is turbo all wheel drive and drives like its pretty new. I would say that getting a car like this with the miles i got (118,000) youre going to expect to put around $1000 dollars worth of maintenance and general repairs, which is not untypical for cars nowadays (120,000 mile timing belt, maybe clutch, etc.). However with that maintenance alone the car drives way better than my old 1996 Eclipse RS, and has less problems thus far. Dont expect much room in the back. This car is a great alternative to the Eclipse costing 1000s less than its counterpart its a great performance vehicle!

  great car - 1997 Eagle Talon

  This is an amazing car. Mine crankwalked on me, but its getting fixed because I couldnt get rid of it. This thing is kind of heavy, and you feel it on an autocross course. Its pretty quick in a straight line and corners well, but in a slalom you can feel its weight. It is very comfortable to ride in (3 people and luggage, 5 hours to Ocean City, nobody complained) and gets decent gas mileage (about 28, hwy), but it drinks 93 octane. This is a great car, aside from the crankwalk issue, and Ive recommended the TSi AWD or Eclipse GSX to several people.

  I bought this car as my first. I purchased it with only 112,000 km on it. In the last year I have put about 40,000 km on it. It was in good shape when I got it, but it seemed that everything wanted to go wrong. I have replaced: radiator, water pump, plugs, belts, oil pan, all engine gaskets and seals, timing, exhaust several times, lights which the dumb car keeps blowing, and the list goes on and on. The interior overall is designed good but the material on the seats was cheap and it came apart in the seams. It is however a reliable car if you can keep up with costly repairs, and they are costly cause it comes with a Mitsubishi engine.

  Low budget sporty car - 1994 Eagle Talon

  I bought this Talon back in 2000 after my Supra was totaled. I was happy when I paid $4000 for it back then. Besides changing twice on alternator in 2001 and 2004, and busted axle, I was pretty happy with my ride until recently some nut crashed into my car. Totaled it. I get a total of $ 3100 which is pretty decent!. A fun cheap sporty car for someone with low budget.

  I got a good one - 1994 Eagle Vision

  I bought my TSi used at 23,000mi. Apart from a minor leak in the A/C at 60,000, the car has been great, needing only normal wear and tear items replaced. Now at 130,000 miles and 11 years, the car is mostly suffering from "old age". I had two 30,000 miles of commuting years, suffering only a puncture. Ive never had to add oil to the 3.5L between changes. I was warned about buying this car used, but it checked out well under inspection. Regular required maintenance has been performed, including transmission fluid changes every 25,000 miles. Perhaps thats why almost all the parts are originals.

  Turbo, AWD, leather! A great sports car for a Canadian climate. With some modifications, this car would beat nearly anything on the road. Amazing handling in the snow. Very fun to drive an very reliable despite thrashing the car every time behind the wheel. Very easy to modify to increase hp. Sweet turbo whistle followed by huge power.
