The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.

At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

  Have loved this car - 1997 Eagle Vision

  I have had this car for over five years now. A couple of times I have been tempted to trade it in on a new one, but have decided that I still like the Vision better. Had rattles and shakes at the beginning, but they were all cleared up. Acceleration is great, hiway mileage is around 30.

  This was my first brand spankin new car and its been the best car that I have owned. I have had no major problems with the car since the 6 years that I have owned it. It could use a paint job but other than that my car is still like new. The car is very fun to drive and handles the road well.

  Car is fun to drive, most DSM vehicles have a oil burn problem. Runs good and has great gas mileage, about 22 mpg city.

  Over all this car has been very good to me. I have had to do basic maintenance and a few bigger things like the timing belt and a valve job...but that can be expected at 260000 km. Its great

  This car is simply the best. I used to own a vw, but ever since I got the talon, im never going to go back. I wouldnt trade this car for the world, Unless that meant getting more talons :) Simply the best car Ive ever owned.

  This car can kick it! I have the AWD turbo and LOVE the performance! I live in the mountains and love to test it out as Im never disappointed. ) I was told when I bought it to take good care of it to avoid the previous years problems and have. I have not had ANY problems with this car yet. You have to replace the tires more often because theyre performance, therefore softer, but you CAN get an all season that will last longer. It can also haul a totally full car load without difficulty. The A/C does detract slightly from performance, but not much.

  i love my car i got it in the beginning of may i bought it from the original owner with 76000 miles from an older gentelman very well taken care of except for the interior needed some major cleaning.. very fast and reliable only minor problems so far and still running strong

  Ive had the car for 3 years and man it has been a blast to drive. I havent any problems from it especially with it being over 9 years old. I bought the car with 52,000 miles on it and now it has 81,848 miles on it. I have driven the car for over 300 miles straight and never got uncomfortable in it. For it being turbo and weighing 3119lbs it gets really good gas mileage. I can drive almost 400 miles before I need to fill the tank again, I get less mileage if I drive it hard but Im usually pretty easy on it for long trips.
