Make Overview:

The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.

At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

had a few weird problems at the beginning (2 cracked radiators), but all were covered by warranty. Very few problems, AWD is fantastic for bad weather and great in the snow. Loose side mouldings had to be reattached a few times, but overall a great car. Great handling and lots of power

The car is fine. However, the back spindle is damaged.

I bought this because I needed a bigger car than my Grand Am. The Eagle has had some reliability problems, specifically the A/C. The same problems seem to recurr every 40k miles or so. At first I had an extended warranty to 100k so I didnt care too much. More lately, it has cost me more to fix. There is a recall on the fuel rail. I must say that for the purpose (large car to haul a family) it has done very well. We take long trips with 2 adults, a baby, and 2 teenagers without feeling cramped. The trunk is huge. The stereo sounds great (Infinity). The leather seats are comfortable.

i have had my talon since january of this year. its a great car however it burns a lot of oil after sitting at a red light for a while. I get decent gas mileage bu the car could use a few extra horsepower and ft/lbs torque. Also the hard shifting into second and sometimes third gets rather annoying. but on the other side the car is quick and fun to drive.

Ive owned Hondas and Toyotas and this car is a lot cheaper and its durability and performance is awesome, even in the non-turbo models(which i owned)

I Love my Talon so much i bought 3 now, you can beat them on snow or dry gound, after a few times you can figure out most of the problems on your own, but beware, its imposable to find a mechanic that can work on them.

Within 8k miles new, the windows wouldnt roll up on track. Took it into the dealer 7 times to get them fixed. They still dont work to this day and I have to "pull" them up. I did get it up to 135mph on my way to Colorado. The car ran very well for the first 60k miles. But the tranny had to be rebuilt soon thereafter. The timing belt went out around 120k and destroyed the engine which was then rebuilt. The tranny continues to shift roughly and grind. The A/C leaks and the cruise control no longer works. The black paint on the roof is faded white. The engine had to be replaced at 150k and it does not run well either and leaks oil.

Ive had only minimal problems related to having an older car. My car is loaded and being small I find it easy to drive because its sporty and compact. The previous owner had to replace the head gasket and the timing belt has been replaced twice. Other then that, everything has ran smoothly with this car.

Good solid vehicle. Good gas mileage for a mid-size sedan. I got 25 mpg around town and 28-30 mpg highway. Only large repair in 8 years of ownership was replacing the air conditioning compressor.

I bought this car brand new and hoped to get 200K out of it if I took good care of it. The first 120K went well with little problems. Timing belt change and tune up. The next 60K was not so good. 2 cluches, 1 tranny rebuild, 3 alternators, a broken timing belt which means a top engine rebuild, and lots of oil leaks both engine and tranny. The paint also faded really bad on the hood and roof.
