Make Overview:

The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.

At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

I have a non-turbo one and havent had a problem yet since the 25,000 miles I put on it. I beat on it hard and have only had to do the normal stuff to the car oil changes, brakes, tires. Other than that it runs great and gets great gas mileage. Im at 84,000 miles and still going. Good dependable work car.

The car is really fun to drive. If the performance isnt enough, very little money can make it much faster. Front seats are pretty comfortable, backseats are pretty much worthless.

The most reliable breakdown free car I ever owned. I dont know if the other reviewers changed oil every 10k miles, but the only major deal was the A/C and the fuel rail replacement (recall from Chrysler). Good size sedan for a family and comfortable on long trips. Looking for another one for a good price-since again breakdown free car (had 170,000 miles when I finally sold it in 2000). Good gas mileage 23-25 mph on highway, about 20 in city.

  • Best Car Ever Owned!!!!! - 1998 Eagle Talon

My talon is an amazing car, ive owned it since it was new and have treated it like it was my child! If you keep up your talon, itll last forever(Mitsu. engine) This car is pretty much 50% American/50% Japanese. There are so many little standard features on this car that others $20 000 more dont have -Lighted key ring -Full size spare -Bra and these are just a few features! Overall, this is the best car I have ever driven in. The best part of all is all of this performance for such a small price tag.

  • Not too bad - 1991 Eagle Summit

The car was very reliable after a few minor adjustments. I wasnt that big on the body style and look, but it got me where I was going. It was a perfect car to drive back and forth to work and school.

  • The worst car ive ever owned. - 1991 Eagle Talon

Youve seen the movie, "The Money Pit", well, it could have been about the eagle talon. mine was the 1991 tsi AWD turbo. Problems and complaints, i will try and list briefly: many oil leaks, 2 clutches in 3 years, timing belt broke early causing head damage, numerous alternators, starter, unexplained engine revs that were not fixable by any mechanics, 2 oxygen sensors, failure of the factory alarm, etc. etc. besides that: bad gas mileage, poor visibility, car is too heavy, becomes a chore to drive for a smaller person, not very comfortable interior... please, do not buy an eagle/mistsubishi/plymouth product.

  • Gotten my $ worth - 1990 Eagle Talon

This is the second 1990 Eagle Talon TSI AWD that I have owned. There is nothing that I can put this car down for it was ahead of its time when it was built in 1990. Just wish Eagle would have built on there strengths rather than to come up with what they have now a days

This car is whack! Dont ever drive a piece of junk like this if you can avoid it. Its aiight if you like no a/c, a weak stereo system, and a real ugly car. I just drove it back and forth to work and school. What can I say, Im a broke college kid.

  • used car - 1993 Eagle Vision

Bought the car used and below value by 30% and was figuring it was a lemon. Well over time its been a good Family Work Horse. Not as fancy as some but good on trips of over 400 miles. Probles were only the EGR valve and the Catalitic converter. Both died well over life expentcy. The car is a good mid range car and has done well. Its ride is sure and just a touch on the firm side. Handles resonable well in hiway avoidence. Breaking is a bit odd as it seem to break harder as it drops below 30..
