Make Overview:

The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.

At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

Ive driven Hondas, Toyotas, Chevys, Fords, Benzs, BMWs you name it Ive pretty much had a chance to drive it or own it. Never have I had as much fun in a car as I have in my talon. I absolutely love the car and fell in love with it within the first couple days that I owned it. I bought the car with 83,000 miles on it and in less than two months I have added nearly 3,000 more, simply because I like to drive it, no long trips or anything. This car is beauty and the beast all in one. Ive already left many a mustang/corvette owner sad and blue after a race off the line. I just wish I had bought it sooner. :)

I have my Talon for 4 yrs, and my experience with it has been ok, but recently it is having a big problem with starting the car sometime, Sometimes it start, sometimes it took me a long time to start it, the ongest time that it took me was 2hrs.... I have tried 3 places to fix it, but nobody could figure out how! I have even tried the dealership.... they said nothing was wrong with it.

  • Its just my kind of car. - 1995 Eagle Talon

My Talon is the first of my "newer" vehicles, and I love to drive it. I havent had any problems with my car although Im starting to hear rattling, and for some reason my brakes sometimes squeek, but other than that the car is in great condition. All I have to do is give it a tune and an oil change and its good to go.

My experience so far with my 1991 Talon has been okay. Except recently it has had a slight hesitation in the morning when taking off and shifting into different gears. Also the check engine light has came on and the car starts to shake and shutter then it tries to stall. I took it to a mechanic to have it computer anylized only to find out that the 1991 Eagle Talon doesnt have a memory in its computer, therefore I paid $50 for them to tell me that they couldnt get the code to the computer and the only way they could is if the check engine light stayed on. They told me that most likely its one of the many sensors in the car.

  • this is the worst day of my life - 1997 Eagle Talon
    By -

Let me tell you a little story about the eagle talon.. first I "chased" an ambulance and because it was a sports car, got my license taken away. Then when i went up to my weekly trip to the air force academy, the tires blew faster than a strong wind in a hurricane. These so called "high performance" tires...not so much. by the way, the radio for some reason broke and the only station that would come on was radio disney. last time I checked, this wasnt the coolest station around the block for the youth of america. Its like an ex boyfriend...untrustworthy, unreliable, and breaks at the first sign of difficulty.

I love my car! Its much faster than other cars Ive owned. Its smooth on the road and handles very well. Its also great in snowy weather because of the AWD. Plus, its just a nice looking car! I like how people always think its newer than a 95.

im more than sick of people complainin about there mitsubishi engined cars breakin down cause of the timing belt or wining about the turbo. if u check your belt about once every 3 or 4 or months 20,000 miles at least odds are that ull find the problem before u blow the head on your motor. checkin the belt isnt difficult its a total of four screws to remove. and if u turn your car off emediatly without lettin the intercooler on the turbo cool the turbo down of course your gonna wreck it ull do that to any turbo. i bought my car with 107000 on it and it now has 190000.

  • good car/great price - 1994 Eagle Summit
    By -

This was my first car purchase. As is always the case, I wanted to get the best car possible for my money...which was not much at the time. Ive had my 94 eagle Summit for over 7 years now and have had no problems with it. It is an economy car that I have been very pleased with.
