Overview & Reviews
The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.
At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.
Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

money money money - 1991 Eagle Talon
By boneybunion - December 1 - 2:00 amI traded in my 91 bronco for this thinking that the gas mileage would be excellent. It wasnt. I paded 4995 for it which was a good price because it only had about 90k. Whith in the first week I had it I had to take it in to the mechanic to fix a tranny leak $1,500. The cruise control doesnt work neither does the liter. Now theres an engine oil leak. When the turbo goes on theirs a grinding noise in the front right. It barely starts when its cold out. Theres tons of turbo lag. Also now when pushed to the floor it stalls. Dont get me wrong it handles great even at 140 mph (I have a radar detector) but if there is a extended waranty available get it.

UNRELIABLE!! Dont buy this car!! - 1994 Eagle Vision
By Julie - October 13 - 2:00 amThis is the WORST car Ive ever owned. Bought it new, and the car computer went out within 2 years, thank goodness THAT was still under warranty. However, after the warranty, everything else broke down, most notably the transmission, the AC, the radio, the tie rods, and gas lines. Ive had the transmission replaced and that second one went bad too. I cant wait to rid myself of this money trap.

What a nightmare! - 1995 Eagle Talon
By Former Talon Owner - September 21 - 2:00 amI owned an automatic Eagle Talon for three years and had to replace 4 trasnmissions, torque converter, and possibly the engine but I traded it at that point. What a horrible nightmare. Neither Kelly of Lynnfield, MA or Chrysler was a joy to work with in this whole mess. AVOID!!!

Nothin but a LEMON - 1991 Eagle Talon
By Curlykicker - May 27 - 2:00 amWithin 8k miles new, the windows wouldnt roll up on track. Took it into the dealer 7 times to get them fixed. They still dont work to this day and I have to "pull" them up. I did get it up to 135mph on my way to Colorado. The car ran very well for the first 60k miles. But the tranny had to be rebuilt soon thereafter. The timing belt went out around 120k and destroyed the engine which was then rebuilt. The tranny continues to shift roughly and grind. The A/C leaks and the cruise control no longer works. The black paint on the roof is faded white. The engine had to be replaced at 150k and it does not run well either and leaks oil.

fast and fun, but unreliable - 1992 Eagle Talon
By jbchickenhead - April 11 - 2:00 ami owned a 92 eagle talon TSi AWD untill about 3 months ago. the car was nothing but problems for me. i paid about 5500 for the car a little aver a year and a half ago. while it was very fun to drive, and the ability to smoke any civic is fun, the bad outwieghed the good. i put $1600 into a new tranny, $1500 into a new cylander head and timing belt, and then i threw a rod, which would have been at least $3000 to fix. that is with no performance parts on the car, i threw a rod, it is a poorly designed vehicle, panels rusted, despite constant waxing, when the car was babyed, still had problems.
