Make Overview:

The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.

At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

vehicle is that it was very tempermental about its fluid. changed it lubes every 3000 but if I waited till 3001 you could tell a difference in how it drove. In the 2 years car stalled out twice. Happen when I put in cheap fuel. fuel treatments solved this in with oil changes. Overall this is one of the best cars I have ever owned. The only reason we parted with it is because it was recently totaled. One last thing. You can really feel the road with this car which is a plus to me. If you run over a rock you will feel it. Drives great on Snow and Ice.

I bought the car w/1477 miles on the odometer back in 11/92. While I think the performance is very good, reliability is an issue. I am currently on my 3rd transfer case - the first blew w/38,000 miles on it, the second at 79,000 miles. I have the car serviced regularly, use only synthetic fluids, change oil every 3,000 miles and all fluids every 24,000 so maintainace is not the issue.

I bought this 1990 Eagle talon almost 2 years ago and have the time of my life driving it. The brakes in it arent that great so that is really the only problem with it. Otherwise, when it comes to speed and super-quick acceleration, the Eagle Talon does it. I have only lost one "race" on the hiway to any other car and that was an Acura Integra, otherwise, I am used to passing people with ease. The turbo is like magic. The interior is nicely built for the driver and the passenger but the two back seats are painfully small and can not comfortable seat four, but it can be done.

Definitely a good choice to go with the 3.5L engine. Has needed some major work including air conditioner condenser and a new rack & pinion. After 83k miles, still has good struts and the interior shows little wear. Put higher performance tires, Bosch Platinum +4 Spark Plugs, and a K&N Air Filter on the car to give it a little more get-up-and-go. All-in-all it is a great car.

  • Tsi Buyer Beware - 1996 Eagle Vision

Eagle Vision Tsi Owners and Future Buyers Beware. This was a great and fun car when we first got it. Slowly but surely it will start falling apart on you. Serious electrical problems everywhere. Door locks, trunk, alarm, ignition switch. Stalling. Paint peeling on any plastic areas, bumpers, rear window panels. Good Luck. :-(

  • One of the funnest cars to drive! - 1997 Eagle Talon
    By -

If you dont own one or have never driven one...then dont try to rate this car! I have had more fun driving this car than any other car I have driven. Im tired of seeing Hondas supposedly being decked out just to attract attention. This car turns heads without any modifications being needed! This car handles like no car I have driven.

  • Good Fast Car - 1997 Eagle Vision

This is easly one of the best cars Ive owned in this class. It is reliable, fast off the line and very comfortable maintenance has been minamal and the handeling is good. It makes me miss my 1969 Chevelle. Although Im not happy with Chryslers powertrains of late (with the transmission problems they have) Im hoping for the best from this car.

Purchased the vehicle new in 94 and have 95000 miles on it. I have been very pleased with the performance - lots of power, gets 29 mpg on long highway trips. In addition, there havent been any serious mechanical problems to date, except the alternator was replaced at 85000 miles and the air conditioner was repaired twice under warranty.
