Make Overview:

The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.

At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

  • Most reliable, cool car ever - 1995 Eagle Talon

I never owned a more reliable car than this one, even after 8 years of driving one. I have never ever had a problem withthis car other than a sensor light and now, the paint is beginning to fade and come off. It always starts, always performs, has never let me down. Its economical, fun to drive, and has an awesome sound system. Wish they still made em...Id get another in a heartbeat....

A fun to drive car. Purchased in Whitehall, Ohio in 1997, then shipped it to Germany in 2001. Experienced minor problems (normal wear and tear). Ran great on the German AUTOBAHN.

Overall this has been a pretty good car. The transmission has been fixed twice, the air conditioning also broke twice. The tie rods have been changed in the front.

  • All Wheel Drive Grip N Go Turbo - 1995 Eagle Talon

Best car I have ever owned. With a little tweaking I easily beat an 07 Mustang GT. Awesome styling and aggressive stance.

  • A Great First Car - 1993 Eagle Talon

I have owned the car for 3 years and it was my first car. It had 120,000 miles on it when I bought it and I still use it as a daily driver with 155,000 miles on it. I did have to replace the distributor on it once, but that is the only mechanical thing Ive done to it other than regular maintenance. The car has been through a lot and still runs like a top. The interior fits me like a glove. Some of the interior quality is not as good as the mechanicals of the car, but it has a pretty comfortable ride and is always a fun car to cruise in. It looks good, runs good, and gets pretty good gas mileage. My 5 speed usually gets around 30-32 mpg. This car was a great first car for me and I still love it.

  • Enjoyable and reliable car - 1996 Eagle Vision

I have owned my TSI for 10 years now and have no serious complaints. It has been a very reliable car virtually zero problems with no time in the shop except for routine maintenance. Its very peppy and fun to drive with a nice firm handling suspension unusual in large American cars of the time. Both the interiors and exteriors barely show their age and it is still a stylish new looking car after all these years.

  • AWD Bliss - 1997 Eagle Talon

Being a previous owner of DSMs, this is by far the best one ever built. Not only is it a competent handling car in dry weather, it handles even better in inclement weather. Its a little loud at anything above 60mph, and there are a few rattles in the interior, but what do you expect for a 10 year old car. The turbo spools nice and quick, never leaving me itching for power. The ride is one of the best for a sport coupe of its caliber. The fact that it can hang with cars costing thousands more, and still return excellent fuel economy, makes this a great car!

  • I love my car - 1990 Eagle Talon

Bought my car and love it more everyday.

  • Hate to sell - 1995 Eagle Talon

I have absolutely no complaints about this car, its just time to get a new car. Well, maybe one complaint, it is difficult to fit more than 3 people in the car comfortably, eg long trips. Smooth drive, great air conditioner, power windows, locks and many other amenities made you feel like you were in a luxury sports car.

  • Better than a Timex - 1997 Eagle Vision

I bought this car when it had 83,000 miles on it and it was 5 years old. I feel it is the most reliable car I have ever owned. 202,000 miles with regular maintenance. It does wear out front rotors quickly, Ive replaced them 3 times. The only repair I have made is a new serpentine belt and a radiator. A/C has a slow leak but its nearly 10 years old. I love this car, it accelerates well, rides smooth and has plenty of interior room.
