Make Overview:

The Jeep/Eagle division was formed in 1988 shortly after Chrysler bought the American Motors Corporation in 1987.

At the time, Detroit brands like Chrysler were trying to fend off increasing sales by import brands with the creation of their own import-style sales divisions. Eagle began with the Renault-influenced products developed for AMC, the Eagle Premier and the Eagle Medallion. The rest of the division's portfolio was filled out by vehicles from Mitsubishi, the Japanese company that had long been Chrysler's partner in the importation of small, fuel-efficient vehicles.

Jeep sales gave some energy to the Eagle division, but once Chrysler broke off the sport-utility brand and made it available to its own dealers as the SUV boom began in the 1990s, the Eagle brand quickly foundered. Chrysler announced the end of the Eagle brand in November 1997 and the last Eagle Talon, a badge-engineered version of the Mitsubishi Eclipse, came off the assembly line shortly thereafter.

  • Get the turbo. - 1997 Eagle Talon

This car will rock your face off. The most fun driving Ive ever had is in this car. But, you have to get a turbo- charged model. The base models suck.

I was told before I bought this car that it is nothing but problems, but then I found out that this is because other DSM owners want you to think this so they can buy it and have a 2nd DSM. I have had mine for a few months now, no problems at all. Not as fast as my Z28, but just as much fun. AWD is fun to play with from a stop or cornering and the turbo noise and power is outstanding. I paid $2300 for mine in Novemeber of 2002 with 66k miles and with a K&N cone filter and aftermarket UICP. Low 13 second car with less than a $800 invested, you cant beat the performance.

The day i purchased the car, i had already knew all about them, but the first time u drive it its like nothing yall ever experience. I have done various mods to it and now at 513HP, I have not lost a race with the new mods. Last thing i raced was a Dodge Viper GTS, and swoked his A$$ all the way to the finih line. Lets just say its the car to have.

Ive always liked sedans for their ride and have nothing but compliments for this car. Even after six years this car still has great acceleration and handling. Only two minor problems...power steering pump years ago and hard starting some times (cold). Otherwise, terrific!

  • Good Looks/Some Maintenance - 1993 Eagle Vision

It was a program car. I drive in carefully, but have had to have the front end worked on 2x for rattles. 2 water pumps that were covered under the 7/70. This is what bothers me, the stereo went out, yes thats right. Never happened to me before ever. Repainted in bright platinum color, the light driftwood faded bad and Chrysler knew it because I only paid 25% of the cost. They also gave me a lifetime warranty on the new paint job. All in all I have had it 7 years and it has been a very good car, never left me stranded anyway.

  • Excellent car - 1993 Eagle Talon

Drove this car for 7 years. No problems for majority of time I had it. For 6 years, no problems at all. Replaced all belts and the tie rods recently. That is only major repair in the time Ive owned it. Car has been extremely reliable, incredible gas mileage (drove from WI to NE on ONE TANK of gas each way) Handles very well. It IS small though, back seat comfort not great and because its so low, sometimes hard to see in traffic. Was really happy with this car.

Although I had the transmission rebuilt (under warranty), I enjoy this car more than my Lexus.

  • Treated me well for 10 years - 1993 Eagle Vision

Ive had the car now for 10 years and 128K miles. Aside from normal maintainence the only problems were a water pump (fixed by warranty) and an O2 sensor. I like the big size of the car yet good handling. Fuel economy is pretty consistent at about 23.5 mpg (70% highway/ 30% city). My only regrets about the car is its poor resale value.

This car is my first car and I bought it cash. The first thing that got my attention about this car was the stylish look from the outside and the nice configuration in the inside. even though I have the slowest model of the talon I have put many of extra parts to make it just as fast as the Talon ES. I am very pleased with every feature on this car.
