This Year's Model Updates:

Chrysler and Dodge have restyled most vehicles this year to bring out similarities and cohesiveness among the Chrysler group cars. To that end, the Stratus sedan receives a new front fascia, and R/T sedans get a monochromatic grille. Sedan interior changes include the addition of steering wheel-mounted audio controls and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, along with new door panels, new seat fabric and three new interior choices. Two new 16-inch wheel options, plus two new exterior colors have been added as well. Also this year, Stratus sedans without optional antilock brakes receive a downgraded braking system with rear drums in place of discs. On the plus side, traction control is now available when combined with antilock brakes. A manual transmission is no longer available. Changes to the coupe are minimal. The interior features a new "Satin Silver" finish on the center stack bezels, and door accents.

Pros:
  • Exceptional value, attractive shape, fun to drive.

  • Great car for the money - 2004 Dodge Stratus
    By -

I bought this car with only 200 miles on it, i love it. It hits high speeds and handles like you would not believe. The only problem I found was that it stalled but that was fixed buy replacing the sparkplug wires and replacing the plugs with platinum plugs. Also use semi-synthetic oil. Otherwise it works great.

  • Mistake - 2004 Dodge Stratus

After it was one year old, things started going down hill. Were now getting electronic and mechanical work done on it before the "new" warranty runs out, then we plan on trading it in before its too late. It could just be my car, but theres definetly problems with it and I think a recall needs to be made on the rear barrings, etc. Im about to bring it to the dealership for the 4th time and they still cant fix the problem. Next time well visit Honda or Toyota.

  • Gotta go with the R/T - 2004 Dodge Stratus
    By -

Ive had my Stratus R/T now for 6 months. Plenty of horsepower and still get 30 mpg on the highway. I got mine fully loaded w/ auto-stick, moonroof, leather, infinity sound, chrome wheels. I get a lot of nice car compliments. Dodge did a great job with this car.

  • Good but whiny - 2004 Dodge Stratus
    By -

This is the first Dodge I have ever had. I like the looks of the car and it is comfortable for long trips. I have been spoiled by some of the GM features Im used to so it is hard to get used to not having those features on this car. My only complaints are the whining noise that changes volume and pitch with the reving engine, the vibrating rear view mirror, and the rattling seat belt buckle. Also, the spoiler hits the radio antenna when opening and closing the trunk. While I like the looks and comfort, these complaints will keep me from buying another Dodge product.

  • Fun to Drive - 2004 Dodge Stratus
    By -

This is my second Stratus. This time I took all the options. The car is a reliable car, it is comfortable, the sound system is great, and it is so fun to drive with the V6 and the 17" wheels. It is pretty spacious inside, and the trunk space is generous (particularly with the fold down rear seat). Its not a Mercedes or BMW, but its a good car for the $19K +/- I paid ($26K sticker).

I just traded my one year old Honda Civic for a 2004 Stratus. I have made the right decision. It is more spacious, more comfortable and it has sharp lines.

  • I like it! - 2004 Dodge Stratus

I really like my new 04 Stratus SXT Coupe. Its fun to drive and has pretty good fuel economy compared to other models that are similar. I really like the chrome accents...I just want more of the nice exterior on the interior. Its nice but not great. Im waiting for more customization products to come out for this one... Such as accents for the interior.

  • Dodge 2003 Stratus Sedan - 2004 Dodge Stratus

Attractive car, but Chrysler still cannot seem to get it together 100% like my Mazda and former Honda. Her is some excamples. Windshield wipers not designed to set down they set up about 2inches on the glass on the passenger side. Rear seat cushions not properly fabric fitted, buldges. Power windows go up to far. Electronic issues, apparently still being developed, like the idle control and automated gear shifts.

  • 2004 Stratus sold for Taurus - 2004 Dodge Stratus

I posted on how well I liked the Stratus last December when I bought it. Times have changed. Transmission failed at 19,880 miles, despite the granny driving habits of my wife. 6 trips to the dealer later (and two car payments with little or no driving) they finally got it running well enough that I could dump it. Traded for a 2004 Taurus SES. This was my first Dodge in 15 years, I think Ill wait another 15 before I try again.

  • Awesome looks - 2004 Dodge Stratus
    By -

I previously drove a 2003 Honda Accord coupe with a 4 cylinder. While the Dodges acceleration is not quite as good as the Hondas, its handling is far superior, and it has a lot less body roll. The tires are too eager to squeal on the Accord on turns. The interior of the Accord is nicer, but the Dodge looks a lot better on the outside. For as long as I have had this car, nothing has gone wrong. This car is an overall good buy and very sporty, if thats what your looking for.
