This Year's Model Updates:

Chrysler and Dodge have restyled most vehicles this year to bring out similarities and cohesiveness among the Chrysler group cars. To that end, the Stratus sedan receives a new front fascia, and R/T sedans get a monochromatic grille. Sedan interior changes include the addition of steering wheel-mounted audio controls and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, along with new door panels, new seat fabric and three new interior choices. Two new 16-inch wheel options, plus two new exterior colors have been added as well. Also this year, Stratus sedans without optional antilock brakes receive a downgraded braking system with rear drums in place of discs. On the plus side, traction control is now available when combined with antilock brakes. A manual transmission is no longer available. Changes to the coupe are minimal. The interior features a new "Satin Silver" finish on the center stack bezels, and door accents.

Pros:
  • Exceptional value, attractive shape, fun to drive.

The take off response is awesome, holds the road wonderfully. This is the only car that Ive ever bought that is actually worth more than what my loan value is!

This was the first new car that Ive purchased in more than 15 years. In every aspect, this car has exceeded any and all of my expectations. Gas mileage is great. 22mpg city/31mpg highway. The interior is very comfortable, and the power is more than adequate, especially for a 4 cylinder. Trunk space is huge and storage is fantastic with the rear seats down. What was really impressive is the audio system. I have a new Corvette with a "Bose" system that doesnt compare to the sound in my Dodge. Everything on this car is original except for the front brakes and 4 tires. Reliability is a 10! Wish they still made a coupe, I would but another one immediately.

  • Best new car I ever had - 2004 Dodge Stratus

I bought the 2004 Dodge Stratus on a limb. I had test drove other cars of its class, and just couldnt get the warm fuzzy of spending $20,000 on any of them. I went to my local Dodge dealership, test drove this, and knew right away this was the one. Great handling, sporty looks, very comfortable. I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a great car enjoyment/price ratio.

Overall A very good car. Good looking however it is a bit underpowered compared to other cars in its class, it needs about another 50 horsepower to be competive. The power steering is way to overassisted for my taste, it leaves no real feel of the road. Braking is good and it handles well once you get used to the power stearing. Parts of the interior feel a bit cheap and the dash is comming apart at the de-fog vent aver about 8 months of ownership. The automatic transmission felt abit sluggish on take- off, thats why i chose the manual.

My Stratus is a 1996. It has over 164,000 miles and running great. It is my second home. I did not travel far the first several years but then my job took me to farther away places. My car has been my magic blanket taking me there.

Very fun to drive. Easy to pass on the highway. I got the ATX and its not bad at all. Its a little sluggish off the line, but makes up for it while accelerating. 3.0 V6 makes a nice rumble with a few mods and a nice muffler. This car gets plenty of looks and I love the Dark Metallic Gray color. Goes really good with gunmetal wheels. I compared to Accord coupe, Tiburon, Monte Carlo SS and other V6 coupes. This one trumped them all. The R/T coupe is also very rare amongst the cookie-cutter cars on the road.

I was going to just pass this car by when I was looking, Im glad I didnt. I needed a car to go back and forth to work in and this car fits that job to a T. Its no rocket but compared to my old 99 Neon it feels like one. I really am glad I found an R/T as there dont seem to be a lot around here. Ive added a few things to help out the fun factor (Brembo rotors w/ new pads, K&N filter, Tornado air foil) Cant argue with build quality as it is a Chrysler so Ill forgive some of it, but as a work car or just for running around town its great!

  • Underpowered version - 2004 Dodge Stratus

I like the looks and style of the car but the engine is underpowered without getting great gas mileage. Have had some mechanical issues also. A good car but dont get the SXT underpowered model.

I bought my Stratus in June of 2005. I bought it used and it has been a wonderful car for me. At first it took a while to get used to, because my previous car was a roomy 4 doors Grand Prix. I love the sporty design.
