This Year's Model Updates:

Chrysler and Dodge have restyled most vehicles this year to bring out similarities and cohesiveness among the Chrysler group cars. To that end, the Stratus sedan receives a new front fascia, and R/T sedans get a monochromatic grille. Sedan interior changes include the addition of steering wheel-mounted audio controls and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, along with new door panels, new seat fabric and three new interior choices. Two new 16-inch wheel options, plus two new exterior colors have been added as well. Also this year, Stratus sedans without optional antilock brakes receive a downgraded braking system with rear drums in place of discs. On the plus side, traction control is now available when combined with antilock brakes. A manual transmission is no longer available. Changes to the coupe are minimal. The interior features a new "Satin Silver" finish on the center stack bezels, and door accents.

Pros:
  • Exceptional value, attractive shape, fun to drive.

I purchased a 2004 Dodge Stratus. It is a very nice car and It is very comfortable to ride in. Gets good gas mileage which is very important with the high prices of gas these days. It was well worth the investment and the warranty of 7 years or 70,000 miles was a great deal.

I bought this car after my 98 Plymouth Neon was totaled. She had been through 2 or 3 owners, she has a salvage title, and she had lived in Upstate New York all her life. I paid $2,250, 72,000 miles on the odometer. The frame is still in good condition, unfortunately all the parts are just about rusted to nothing. Ive put a decent amount of work into this car, replacing the entirety of the suspension and steering system which piece by piece has started failing, all after putting about 60,000 miles on her. The only parts I have not replaced yet are the control arms which are still holding up well. The engine runs extremely well and for being a four cylinder it has some decent get up and go, especially in comparison to my last car. The steering is smooth, the seating is comfortable, and overall I have found her to be a reliable car. Ive driven her back and forth from Texas to New York 3 times now, and plan on driving her to Arizona from Texas next month. The dash is pushed up and not on properly, which Im not sure if it is due to the heat or the previous damage she took. Its comfortable for me and easy to get into, although she sits low. Plenty of space in front and in back, friends have told me its a spacious coupe that gives more leg room than their cars. Perfect engine and perfect transmission, its a sporty looking little cruiser that makes a great first car.

goodyear tires wear out real fast and you dont even have to abuse them....recommend investing in a better tire other than the goodyears.

  • great car for the money - 2004 Dodge Stratus

this is my first time buying a dodge and so far im very impressed.i traded in my 2001 nissan altima gxe and i must say that this car is much more spacious ,and much more fun to drive.ive gone a tad over 100 miles and i figured id check the fuel effiency and it tok but 3 gallons to fill back up as where my altima would be on 1/2 tank by this time.fit and finsh not up to standards of camry or accord but its also thousands of dollars less expensive.have to wait and see on the reliability but everyone ive talked to whos had one didnt complain .peppy lil 4 banger does fine pulling my 6ft5 300 lb self around with no complaints and i live in a hilly area.

We needed a replacement for my wifes Breeze and the Stratus was the logical choice. The size and price were the main factors that contributed to purchasing the vehicle; we needed a practical car and werent looking for anything fancy. The SXT package added some nice features like 16" aluminum wheels and keyless entry. The biggest problem so far has been the replacement of the transmission at 500 miles due to a high-pitched whine at 75 MPH. The drivers side window leaks some water when going through a high-pressure wash but after the debacle with getting the transmission fixed I decided I could live with a little water on my arm now and then.

  • NO Anti-LOCK Brakes???? - 2004 Dodge Stratus

This car is a nice car but i bought it so my wife would be safe on the road, back to work and home. When the bad weather struck, this is when the car slid off the road and i found out it didnt have anti-lock brakes. the sole reason on getting a new car....more saftey!
