This Year's Model Updates:

A complete redesign yields a cavernous interior, best-in-class driveability and new innovations such as the optional driver-side passenger door. And although the all-wheel-drive version is discontinued for now, Caravan dethrones the Ford Windstar and once again reigns as king of the minivans.

this is our 2nd mini van. 1st one was a 94 grand. anouther great van. this one is tops unless you plan on going with the 2002 or newer. has everything you need and then some. great ride and very comfy. we have the quad seating. much better than the bench, especially with adults in the middle row. ours has been very reliable. the only thing other than routine maintanance was a pully bolt broke. other than that great van

  • Great Van, best Ive owned - 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan

I have compared and tested a lot of vans and this one by far has the highest quality out of the domestics. Its gas mileage, acceleration, and ergonomics are excellent. I would recommend this over any other vans.

I bought this car with 96164 miles on it. Except for intermitent wipers I didnt have a sinle problm until I reached around 120000 miles. First, my engine started to leak oil, every 300- 500 miles I have to add 1 quarter. My AC compressor died (dont know whats wrong with it, maybe its just bearing), power windows electric motor on passenger side burned out, . Dont have problem with transmission.

No problems at 135000 miles, only replaced brakes one time and spark plugs at 90000 miles, runs good doesnt consume any oil, shifts nice, good quality and ride.

I have loved my Dodge Grand Caravan since I have owned it. It is quite comfortable and I average 20 in the city and around 23 on the highway. It has the 3.8 V6. Ive driven a number of other vans by other manufacturers and none compare to the ride quality of the Dodge in my opinion.

  • Replacing Tran part of reg maintainance - 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan

This car has been a real family friend and I would love it if I didnt have to replace the transmission every other year. This is my 3rd Dodge Caravan and I will never purchase one again. If your drink splashes or spills in the cup holder, be sure that the cds in cd holder will get soaked. Too bad I cant afford to keep repairing everything and the gas mileage. Id keep the car if it werent for those problems. If I ever get another minivan, which I probably will, it wont be American. What a shame.

  • Understand what you are buying. - 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan

Great vehicle for moving the family round, spacious & comfortable. Pity about the reliability. I bought it with 60K on the speedo and now its at 104K. I have had a blown head gasket, the A/C fail, starter & water pump replaced. This excludes recalls on the radiator fan relay, fuel tank seals etc. I was fortunate to have a warranty which covered most of the above. If you want something you can rely on, look else where.

  • Not my best purchase - 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan

I an the only owner and I have put in a new motor and 2 transmissions, and many other major repairs. The van looks good but not dependable.

The exterior body has held up well to the salt and grime of Chicago winters. But, too many irritating flaws to consider purchasing this model again. Casper the ghost operates the wipers for no reason. Transmission was replaced at 75K (Chrysler did share the expense leaving me with $200 deductible). A/C blew air...sometimes it was actually cold.
