This Year's Model Updates:

Two trim levels have been added -- SXT and SLT Adventurer. The SXT features roof rails, running boards and side moldings. The Adventurer includes a Thule roof rack, side steps, slush mats, cargo liner and organizer and unique wheels. Cloth heated seats are standard on all models this year (except the Limited, which sticks with leather heated seats). A full-screen navigation system is newly available.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 engines, agile handling, excellent ride quality, capable off-road, lots of cargo capacity, simple controls.
Cons:
  • Lousy mileage, sloppy fit and finish, needs more second-row legroom and storage, no stability control or parking sensors.

  • Bye bye Liberty....Hello Durango - 2005 Dodge Durango

I traded my Liberty 2 weeks ago for the Durango because we needed more room. We opted for all the bells and whistles, including the DVD and leather and are not sorry at all. This SUV handles very much like my much smaller Liberty did, the room is amazing..I could rave on and on. I have to admit, one of the biggest "perks" is indeed the Hemi. Picks up and not only goes, but flies down the freeway effortlessly. It was well worth it in the end to choose the available options.

I had owned a 2000 Durango and liked it very much. The only thing that I felt it needed was a smoother ride. Well all I needed to do was drive a new Durango and I was sold. What a sweet ride this truck has...more like a car then a truck. Great handling and it feels very nimble and quick. Didn’t get the hemi engine but am very satisfied with the 4.7... it is a mighty fine engine! Plenty of get up and go for me and since I don’t tow it is all the engine I need. Yes, like my other Durango the gas mileage could be better but I knew that buying an SUV. The interior is comfortable with excellent instrumentation. Love the way the gauges light at night; easy on the eyes! Wonderful vehicle!

  • Best All Around SUV - 2005 Dodge Durango

After 3 years of research, watching the market trends, evaluating every manufacturer and feature, I finally found the right price/performance ratio to make me part with my cash. Dodge only makes 1 SUV, and you can tell a lot of thought went into making this work for a wide range of buyers and needs.

  • Worth the money - 2005 Dodge Durango

This vehicle is full of comfort and style. It is far more luxurious than the 1999 Durango I traded for it. It also gets fair gas mileage for an SUV. So far mine has gotten about 16.5 miles to the gallon. The Hemi engine will fly, so you will need to pay close attention to your speed when you get on the open road. I opted for the DVD which, if you have children is a great choice. I also got a year of Sirius. The leather seats are very comfortable for short or long trips. I would definitely recommend this vehicle, as I have been very happy with mine.

  • Great Buy - 2005 Dodge Durango

We test drove several Trail Blazers and Ford Explorers and of course Dodge Durangos before we chose the Durango. What we noticed is the Durango and the Explorer were much more solid and had more power then the Trailblazer. Since weve owned our Durango we have averaged almost 19 MPG fuel efficiency, not bad for a V8. We have had the opportunity to take it on long and medium trips and we have found it to be very comfortable. We had 5 Adults on a trip of about 1500 miles and it was quite comfortable. We put down one side of the Third Row Seat to Store more luggage. We moved from an Ext. Minivan and the lack of storage space behind the 3rd row seat is the one negative for the Durango.

We own a 2000 Durango and really like it. The 2005 is totally redesigned and so much improved. The ride, handling and performance is excellent. I would like to see a voltmeter on the instrument panel. The exterior takes some getting used to, but does grow on you. The best part is the looks do separate it from the rest. The fuel mileage is not great, but about what I expected.

  • Push my Dodge before I drive a Ford - 2005 Dodge Durango

Any truck that can drag an Ford Expedition with a 26 ft. Boat out of the water and up the boat ramp has to be tuff. I did this on Memorial Day weekend when the Fords transmision blew up on the ramp. I hooked up to the disabled Ford with my Durango and brought truck and boat up on land without slipping an inch.

Very good running SUV. Strongly recomend the Hemi engine. Extra power makes the poor fuel economy worth it. A great value for the money.

  • My Durango is the greatest! - 2005 Dodge Durango

I love my Durango Adventurer! It is stylish with its 2 tone bumpers and trim and it rides great. I am a mom who came from driving minivans and this was the greatest switch. I love it! No complaints, except maybe the gas mileage!

  • I love this truck - 2005 Dodge Durango

I love my new Durango. it handles well. I owned a 1998 Durango and it drove like a truck, very rough. My new Durango drive smoother than my husbands car. I have four children and two dogs and make trips to MA and DE and I feel were very safe in this new Durango. If I could change one thing the SUV does have a lot of blind spots, not just at the side mirrors.
