  • Solid SUV - 2000 Dodge Durango

Just hit 75K miles and extremely pleased. Bought new in 2000. I read a few ugly reviews here and I wonder if thats because they dont have the 4.7 - solid engine. Or it could be that they drive hard (ie floor it regularly, take corners hard, etc). I also laugh at those who complain about gas mileage - Hello, this is a full- size SUV! Did they think you were buying a hybrid? Ive only had a few minor bugs. Ill keep driving the Durango hopefully for another 75K.

It does have some rattles and pops but with 105,000 miles, not too bad. Great towing SUV. Pulls our camper with no problems with the 5.9, 360 engine. Have had to replace some motor components but nothing real costly.

  • Good Truck - 2000 Dodge Durango

Truck has been very sound. No problems mechanically, just normal wear and tear. Other than the gas mileage I love it.

I test drove a Pathfinder, 4Runner, Xterra, Passport and Rodeo before I finally came to the Dodge and I stopped looking after a 10 minute drive. The seats were made for Americans and I am tall (64") so I wanted a SUV where my knees didnt hit anything (console, dash, etc.). The seats are comfortable and the dash is stylish yet simple. I am sure there are other good SUVs out there but you cant go wrong with this one. It has a third row seat, great towing power, full size spare tire and a quiet engine with a nice sounding exhaust

  • not exactly perfect - 2000 Dodge Durango

I have owned my Durango for about 2 years now. It is a nice vehicle to drive and travel in. The ride is also pretty smooth. However, there are some small problems. When you get some speed going there is a wind sound comming in the vehicle through the wind shield. I have had a problem with the power windows. Every now and then there is a winding noise comming from the engine compartment. The front passenger seats dont recline to a comfortable position which would be nice on long trips.

  • Piece of Junk! - 2000 Dodge Durango

When I first bought this SUV I loved it, then came all the problems. Last year I had to put new engine in. Now Im having problems with the oxgyen sensors. I have gone through at least 2 of them already! Im finding nothing but more and more problems. I do not recommend this SUV!!

  • OK so far, 73K miles - 2000 Dodge Durango
    By -

Have owned this vehicle since new and it now has 73K+ miles. Had one issue with an air conditioning relay which was a $250 repair and it happened just after the warranty ended. Also had the recall repair for the ball joints. This has been and continues to be a reliable vehicle for me. The gas mileage (about 18 Hwy) leaves some to be desired but it is on the high end for what I expected for this vehicle. The interior components are not the best quality, the break easily.

  • Must be good luck - 2000 Dodge Durango

Have owned this vehicle since it was 1 year old (16,600 mi). Have had only one issue of note. The cam position switch failed, $200 repair and good to go. This has been and continues to be a good reliable vehicle. The gas mileage is horrible but the interior layout and design is nice. The quality of the interior components is not the best, the plastic will fail (esspecially with kids). However the parts are inexpensive to replace. Maybe Ive been lucky, but I have had less problems with this than friends and family with 2002 Montero, and 2001 Tahoe.

  • Sad Experience - 2000 Dodge Durango

Weve owned the Durango for roughly 2 years and it only has 54,000 miles. Overheating is very common and now the head gaskets are blown. Itll run $1,100 to $1,600 to repair. Save some heartache and dont go Durango. However, if you enjoy sitting in the 3rd seat while it cools down, this may be the gas guzzler for you.

  • No, you didnt get a bad one - 2000 Dodge Durango

My 4.7 engine blew at 74,000 miles with no oil pressure. Heater core failed at 40,000 miles, cost $800 to replace. If youre thinking of buying a Durango, my advice is dont!
