I hear people complaining about this truck, and I dont know why. This truck has been in the family since it was brand new, and the most expensive repair was spark plugs-$150. I pull a lot of heavy stuff. It pulls like a dream. The truck is extremely powerful. The engine problems people describe are due to poor maintenance. Tranny is very strong, and the engine oil needs to be changed every 3k! Using synthetic also helps. Love mine. Very reliable!

I had purchased this vehicle in 2002 and have never had a mechanical issue. I do my own maintenance and this vehicle is tough. The only thing we have done is tires brakes battery and shocks. These are expected things for a 120,000 mile vehicle. I am planning on this vehicle lasting our family of six (the third seat is great) at least until it has 200,000 plus on it. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants a tough reliable vehicle capable of handling any of your needs.

  • Good at everything, master of none! - 2000 Dodge Durango

Ive owned this Durango for quite some time. Its given me no problems outside of regular maintenance. I tow occasionally and haul quite a bit of goods. Just passed 80,000miles and still going strong. I get 18.3mpg at 55mph and 16mpg at 65mph! Not bad for a beast thats rated at 12mpg city and 16mpg highway. Keep in mind the EPA, at the time, rated vehicles on the highway at 55mph! Only problem that is annoying is that in colder weather the mechanism inside the rear hatch that controls the lock rusts and sticks. I have to spray it with lube every few months. Takes about 20min, so its not too bad.

  • A great SUV - 2000 Dodge Durango

Bought the truck with 15000 miles when she was exactly three years old! I have owned her for three years and eleven months. Truck has been awesome, only issue is the A/C unit is too small for the inside cab. The unit only holds 1.6 pounds of refrigerant. Other then that issue, I would buy again!

I bought this car for its space. I have 3 kids so it works great. gas mileage isnt to great but it does what I need it to do. Although for buying with 120,000 miles, Id say it was perfect. I would definitely buy again, preferably newer next time.

  • Best Vehicle Ive Ever Owned - 2000 Dodge Durango

Ive been very impressed with this baby. At 31,000 miles/30 months, this thing still feels tight, powerful and very useful and enjoyable. We bought this when our 3rd child was born. It fits our family perfectly. The worst thing about it is too many are being bought out there. Only problems to date have been power windows motor (replaced) and rear air motor (repaired).

This auto has been used for business and family. It has always performed. Approximately 60% -75000 miles have been highway- there has never been a mechanical breakdown. The vehicle was always maintained. We bought a new durango last year- it floats like a majic carpet on the highway. I only wish gas mileage was better than 14mpg. If you are looking for value in a family suv, be sure to check out the Durango.

  • Disaster waiting to happen - 2000 Dodge Durango

I once read a Durango review that stated, "You never forget youre driving a truck" and that is a perfect description of this SUVs ride comfort. I wanted truck-like durability so I wasnt worried about the harshness of the ride I liked the high clearance and true off-road capability of this vehicle. However, there is a huge oil-pressure issue with this engine. Dodge blames "sludge" and poor maintenance but even meticulously maintained Durangos meet the same fate. Our engine literally blew up just before 60,000 miles. Replaced the engine only to discover more issues requiring money. I loved driving this SUV but warn used car buyers to steer clear of this potential money pit.

  • I Like Durangos - 2000 Dodge Durango

Ive always liked the looks of the Dodge Durango which attracted me to them in the 1st place. I have driven 2 different Durangos for a 10 yr period and am seriously considering purchasing a new one. The only thing Ive replaced since 2000 is the brakes and an electric window mechanism

  • Bad engine - 2000 Dodge Durango

I have 90,000 miles and 2 pistons broke. Rebuilt engine and repairs are $7,200. I had been having problems with the engine for 6 months. The 4.7 litter engine costs as much as a racing engine. Until the problems and the price I really enjoyed my Durango. The front suspension makes noise sometimes. I’ve had it checked and they said everything was tight, but it doesn’t sound like it. I want to lift it but 99 was the last year I can find a decent lift kit for.2000 can only be lifted 3 inches and that’s not worth the cost of the lift.
