Like its sibling, the Dakota, the Durango gets a new trim level dubbed SXT that serves as the entry-level Durango. Other improvements this year include side-curtain airbags, a five-speed automatic gearbox and an optional DVD video entertainment system.

- Some cheap interior trim, high fuel consumption.

My second Durango - 2002 Dodge Durango
By ozfreak - April 6 - 2:00 amThis is my second Durango. I have only had it a few months and it is wonderful! I purchased a 2002 only after my 2001 was totaled. I was rear ended by someone going 55 mph while I was at a stand still. I did one complete roll across a highway, but I walked away. The person in the other car wasnt so lucky-alive but hurt. I wanted a Nissan Altima until the accident, now I will drive nothing but a Durango. It held up like a champ and I know I am alive because of the way it is built. Highly recommend this vehicle.

2002 SLT + Happy Owner - 2002 Dodge Durango

We have taken it on two 1000+ mile trips, and the fuel economy is about equal to the rating. I have the 4.7 engine and am completely satisfied with the performance. I have only towed with it one time, but there was no problem with power whenn I was towing a car on a 2 wheel dolly.

A Definite Dodge RT Woman - 2002 Dodge Durango
By RTLover - July 22 - 2:00 amThis is my 2nd Dodge Durango. My first was a 99 4WD that I thought was great until I purchased a 2002 R/T. The AWD is wonderful in bad weather. I have never purchased the same vehicle twice - but I can see a 3rd R/T in the future. Love the Handling and lot of room. The chrome wheels are a nice addition!!
