Great truck with a lot of power - 2004 Dodge Durango
By NJNOMAD - February 14 - 9:18 pmThough we had a few issues with the drive train (Dodge covered everything) after about a year, overall we love it. It is large enough for the 5 of us and all of our camping gear. It has been fun to drive and very responsive for a large truck.

2004 Hemi Durango - 2004 Dodge Durango
By John Dillman - February 2 - 11:44 pmWe have driven from Indiana to the Florida Keys 3 times and to Texas twice. The highway ride is smooth and comfortable. Gas mileage can be as expected, but the power on the highway is really nice! The only problem we ever had was an oxygen sensor, but that was replaced under warranty. We now have just over 53,000 miles on the Durango. Runs so quiet at idle I have to check rpm to know it is actually running. We change oil every 3000 miles and rotate tires every 6000 miles along with any other services shown in the service handbook.

Awesome SUV - 2004 Dodge Durango
By trcaldwell - January 16 - 10:18 pmWhen my family bought the new Dodge Durango we knew we made the right choice. The Hemi engine and the aggressive styling are definite pluses. The only area of concern for our family in downsizing was the passenger room. In our Durango we have the two-seater third row and it is the most spacious and comfortable third row that we have seen in comparing vehicles, moreso even than that of the Ford Expedition (2004), Chevrolet Tahoe, Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoya, or even the Chevrolet Suburban. The only drawback that we came across was that when we pile six of us into the car for a road trip there is no room for our bags. So on every long trip we had to put a cargo carrier on the top and back.

04 Durango Limited 4.7L - 2004 Dodge Durango
By Tony - August 10 - 5:01 pmLove the Durango. The 4.7L engine has enough power to get the truck around w/o guzzling . I get about 18 to 19 MPG when I take it easy on the gas. I have had no mechanical issues with the car and would definitely buy another one.

Fun for all - 2004 Dodge Durango
By Tony CP - July 21 - 2:00 amFamily Car/SUV with a lot of zip, room and style. A very versatile car that will fit the needs of the most demanding family needs. Rides like a sports car with the room of a van.

Got a HEMI? - 2004 Dodge Durango
By M.Nicley - July 9 - 10:27 pmI bought this used, if you call owned for 6 months used. I traded in my 2000 Chevy Blazer for this rocket! I get 14 mpg around town, 18 mpg highway. (Same as my 4.3 Blazer) I towed a Ford Mustang over 600 miles on a heavy steel trailer and still managed 16 mpg. All the while passing cars and averaging 80 mph in the mountains of TN. Took the Durango with wife and 2 children to FL from OH and was plenty comfortable and rode better than some higher priced SUVs and cars.

Ongoing problems - 2004 Dodge Durango
By joan - June 11 - 9:31 pmMechanicly sound , fun to drive, but many ongoing problems. Front seat trim keeps cracking , headlights come on on sunny days , ac cuts out. Dealer keeps saying no problem found. Also the Goodyear tires are poor in rain or at highway speeds .

Spring for the "hemi" - 2004 Dodge Durango
By Lisa Cuda - May 28 - 10:00 amJust replaced my 99 Durango which I loved very much. I thought the new 4.7 would be more powerful. Very disappointed in pick up & performance. Should have kept my old 360 durango. They should have left the old style alone. This is not a Durango....It is your grandmas car. FIND ANOTHER NAME FOR IT !

Hate the blind spots - 2004 Dodge Durango
By E Miller - May 2 - 9:05 pmI bought an 04 new w/ Hemi and for the most part love it. Engine is great, options are great, but be warned... the blind spots are large. What is really bad are the ones created by the front pillars. Use caution when turning corners, you will not be able to see. Nothing worse than having to lean forward when you make a left hand turn just so you can see. Like it but wont buy another.

04 Durango - 2004 Dodge Durango
By tom - February 13 - 6:44 pmPurchase 04 Durango used. Performance, smoothness, power are awesome. I sometimes forget Im driving a truck. Road noise minimal. As quiet, if not quieter than the Infiniti FX35. Gas is poor. Room is perfect for this size vehicle. Horrendous squealing problem with original brakes. Replaced with thermal brakes and sqealing is just about all gone. More options are required for this $30k plus vehicle to compete at same level as competition. Better interior is needed for base and middle trim packages.
