This is my first Durango. I drove a 2001 a couple of years ago, and I liked it very much, however, a deal could not be made with the dealership, so I went and bought a used 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Replaced the front and rear differentials as the transfer case in one year. Drove the 2004 Durango, love how it performs (despite the not so great mileage), and needless to say, Im extremely happy!

Before buying, I compared the Expedition to the Durango. The Durango beat the Expedition in almost all categories, especially power. This being my first Dodge,I was pleasantly surprised to find features usually only found on luxury vehicles such as memory driver settings, climate control, and leather. And, most important, the price was reasonable.

  • my rating of the 2004 durango - 2004 Dodge Durango

I traded in my 2003 dodge durango for the 2004 one. I have had a lot of problems with it since. I had to have the battery replaced already and it only has 5000 miles. The check engine light came on so I took it to the dealership, they say they cant find anything wrong with it. It shakes really bad when idling. The noise level is deafening. It sounds like your in a helicopter with 1 window rolled down driving 60mph. My car shakes when you get up on speed driving down the highway. There is no problem with traveling in this SUV. I do kinda wish that I didnt trade my 2003 durango in, I never had any problems with it. Maybe it will grow on me.

this is our second durango, after a loaded slt 2001, that was not as comfortable or smooth riding as we liked, however in 40,000 miles it never was in the shop except for routine maintenance, we decided to order a hemi powered SLT, what a change, other than dodge reliability nothing is the same, talk about improvement, wow, smooth riding, comfortable, unbelievable power, awsome sound system, its a whole new world, and the fit & finish is the best we have ever had in dozens of new cars, I am 63 my wife 65, I sold new Fords & Chevrolets for 35 years, and the new 04 Durango is the absolute best vehicle we have ever owned

  • The SUV to have - 2004 Dodge Durango

This is the one to have if youre looking for a V8 power engine. I suggest to get the HEMI, gas mileage is not so bad, just little difference on 4.7 V8. Overall, fun to drive and husky looking, an SUV to have.

CANT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FUEL ECONOMY. BOUGHT MAINLY TO TOW MY WIFES CRV SO GOT THE TOWING PACKAGE. WILL HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE HOW THIS WORKS OUT. ALL IN ALL NOT A BAD SUV, BUT LOOK FOR BETTER IN 2005

This is one fun suv to own. Built tough looks tough and rides like a car. Gas milage not that bad averaged 20mpg on first long trip and its not broken in yet. A pleasure to drive, big yet handles like a smaller SUV. Its quiet and smooth on highway and handles well on small roads. If your looking for an SUV you have to drive this before buying anything else. Simply better than anything in its class and with present rebates a real bargin.
