Overview & Reviews
Two trim levels have been added -- SXT and SLT Adventurer. The SXT features roof rails, running boards and side moldings. The Adventurer includes a Thule roof rack, side steps, slush mats, cargo liner and organizer and unique wheels. Cloth heated seats are standard on all models this year (except the Limited, which sticks with leather heated seats). A full-screen navigation system is newly available.
- Strong V8 engines, agile handling, excellent ride quality, capable off-road, lots of cargo capacity, simple controls.
- Lousy mileage, sloppy fit and finish, needs more second-row legroom and storage, no stability control or parking sensors.

Reliability Nightmare - 2005 Dodge Durango
By Mel Farnaby - July 6 - 6:11 pmThis is my second Durango from the same dealer. My first one was returned and replaced due to excessive water leaks that the dealer was unable to fix. My new 05 SLT with Hemi has now had three fuel pumps on it and a new gas tank, and I am extremely dissatisfied and wonder where and when it is going to leave me on the side of the road again. This vehicle has less than 5,000 miles on it and has been in and out of the dealership since I leased it. I wish Dodge would face up to the fact that they have a problem and take steps to rectify.

Dodge Durango - 2005 Dodge Durango
By C. Edgar - March 26 - 12:00 amI love my Durango. The gas mileage is better than I anticipated. I really like its smooth ride and acceleration. It is never sluggish, not even on a very cold morning.

Best SUV Ive owned - 2005 Dodge Durango
By mrcsbrow - February 11 - 10:46 pmI used to own a 2002 Ford Explorer. What a useless vehicle. Not only would it not pull my boat I couldnt put anything in the back at all. The new Durango can fit anything from a sheet of plywood to 2 weeks worth of vacation luggage. Not only that but it pulls my boat like nothing is behind it. The fuel mileage is as good as it was on my Explorer and I have more torque and horsepower. Great Job Dodge. Youve earned my business for years to come. Keep up the good work.

Amazing! - 2005 Dodge Durango
By Traci - January 20 - 11:20 amI absolutely love my Durango! My husband had a MINI for about 4 months, and every time I drove that then got into my Durango I fell in love all over again! Reliable, and oh so comfortable. I wouldnt trade it in on anything. The only snafu was my steering wheel started to peel after about a year, but a new one was ordered without a problem. I love the sunroof. There is plenty of room for all 6 of us, yet its cozy enough when Im driving alone. A friend has a Suburban, and I dont find that nearly as roomy or comfortable...and the Durango is much more attractive!

New Durango - 2005 Dodge Durango
By Joanie - January 6 - 8:06 pmWe just got our Durango in May but have already taken it on a vacation and it was great. We had a van before but this is much roomier and drives great. You feel like youre on your living room sofa.

By Awesome Truck - September 3 - 11:20 pmI just traded my 04 SLT with leather and Hemi for a Limited with Hemi, sunroof, DVD, nav sys, I absolutely love it. Its fun to drive, its comfortable, its got that muscle look on the outside, I would recommend this car for everyone. Its a great buy for the price.

Du-Rang-O - 2005 Dodge Durango
By Chris Marken - July 22 - 11:36 pmIve gone though several cars & I havent been excited about buying a new car in about 10 years. I went with the "cheapie" model (SXT - no leather, no Hemi, no DVD player). I cant believe how nice this "cheap" model is. If you dont need the 3rd row seat, leather or DVD this is the way to go.

Top Of The Heap... For The Moment - 2005 Dodge Durango
By mitch - March 15 - 1:30 amIve found the new Durango to be a very pleasant riding vehicle (for an SUV), and it handles quite well despite its size. The design and construction being all new from the ground up since 2004 was one of the primary reasons I bought it. In a Road & Track review of the top SUVs (including the Armada and Pathfinder), Road & Track named the Durango number 1. The performance is rather impressive for a vehicle weighing in at 6000 pounds. I opted for the Hemi, and the motor has a great sound to it - not overly loud, but enough to let you know you have some beef under the hood. The fit and finish are pretty good and the layout of the controls, seating, and general space.

I love this truck - 2005 Dodge Durango
By mike - March 8 - 11:43 amI enjoy my new Durango. This truck rides smoothly. It has horsepower and I enjoy my Infinty sound system, DVD, CD changer, and also my third row. My children say "we look down on people in the cars we are big." Im very proud of Chrysler/Dodge. They finally stepped up and made a large SUV. Keep up the good work.
