This Year's Model Updates:

Two trim levels have been added -- SXT and SLT Adventurer. The SXT features roof rails, running boards and side moldings. The Adventurer includes a Thule roof rack, side steps, slush mats, cargo liner and organizer and unique wheels. Cloth heated seats are standard on all models this year (except the Limited, which sticks with leather heated seats). A full-screen navigation system is newly available.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 engines, agile handling, excellent ride quality, capable off-road, lots of cargo capacity, simple controls.
Cons:
  • Lousy mileage, sloppy fit and finish, needs more second-row legroom and storage, no stability control or parking sensors.

  • My SUV - 2005 Dodge Durango

I bought this vehicle right after I had my second child because we needed more room and I always said I would never own a Durango but this has been the best vehicle I have ever purchased. Tons of room and a great ride

  • The best car Ive ever owned. - 2005 Dodge Durango

I recently traded in my 02 Dodge Durango SLT Plus with 70,000 miles for an 05 Limited AWD w/HEMI. WOW. I didnt think there would be such a difference between the two vehicles. The only downside is the gas mileage, but, the 5.7L HEMI is getting almost 1 mpg more than the 4.7L that was in my 02. It seems, strange as it may sound, that the truck is getting used to my driving style. When I first got it, it didnt respond to my pressure on the gas pedal as well as I thought it should. But now, all accelleration is as perfect as it could be, i.e. accellerating onto highway ramps, from a stop light, etc. The Limited has every option, minus the navigation system. Ill get an add-on later

  • Bye bye Liberty....Hello Durango - 2005 Dodge Durango

I traded my Liberty 2 weeks ago for the Durango because we needed more room. We opted for all the bells and whistles, including the DVD and leather and are not sorry at all. This SUV handles very much like my much smaller Liberty did, the room is amazing..I could rave on and on. I have to admit, one of the biggest "perks" is indeed the Hemi. Picks up and not only goes, but flies down the freeway effortlessly. It was well worth it in the end to choose the available options.

  • Awesome ride - 2005 Dodge Durango

I leased an 05 Durango SLT and this vehicle surpassed all my expectations. I used to drive a 2000 Cherokee, so this was a big jump in size and payment, or so I thought. The ride is exceptionally smooth and does not handle as big as it looks. In fact, I think its easier to maneuver than my Cherokee. Fuel economy isnt the best, but which SUVs is? And with employee pricing, I’m only paying $100 more a month with nothing out of my pocket. Definitely give it a look. Only dislikes are the 4.7 seems to take a while to get going, so I wish I got the Hemi. Other than that I think it’s a great value. Was comparing it to a 4runner and I think it beats it hands down.

Nice to drive, gas is trucks best friend, your enemy. Roomy with lots of cargo space.

  • Excellent vehicle - 2005 Dodge Durango

I had owned a 2000 Durango and liked it very much. The only thing that I felt it needed was a smoother ride. Well all I needed to do was drive a new Durango and I was sold. What a sweet ride this truck has...more like a car then a truck. Great handling and it feels very nimble and quick. Didn’t get the hemi engine but am very satisfied with the 4.7... it is a mighty fine engine! Plenty of get up and go for me and since I don’t tow it is all the engine I need. Yes, like my other Durango the gas mileage could be better but I knew that buying an SUV. The interior is comfortable with excellent instrumentation. Love the way the gauges light at night; easy on the eyes! Wonderful vehicle!

  • Terrible Gas Mileage - 2005 Dodge Durango

Im A Newer 2005 Durango Owner, So My Experience With The SUV Is Limited, But I Am So Dissapointed With The Fuel Mileage, I Was Wondering How Many Other People Were Experiencing This Same Issue. I`ve Owned Many Vehicles, Mid. And Full Size, But None That Got 11 Mpg. !!.I Drive About 60% Hwy. And 40% City, And I`m Averaging 11 Mpg. I Drive Very Easy, And Baby My Vehicles. For The Most Part I Really Like The Durango So Far, But I`ve Seen Huge Ford Excursions And Hummer H2`s Get 14.5 Mpg. Avgerage. Dodge And My Dealership Gave Me The Lame Excuse That Mpg. Depends On How The Person Drives The Vehicle. If I Drive Any Easier,Mopeds Will Pass Me! I Hope By Some Miracle My Mpg.Increases At Some Point

  • Best All Around SUV - 2005 Dodge Durango

After 3 years of research, watching the market trends, evaluating every manufacturer and feature, I finally found the right price/performance ratio to make me part with my cash. Dodge only makes 1 SUV, and you can tell a lot of thought went into making this work for a wide range of buyers and needs.

  • Worth the money - 2005 Dodge Durango

This vehicle is full of comfort and style. It is far more luxurious than the 1999 Durango I traded for it. It also gets fair gas mileage for an SUV. So far mine has gotten about 16.5 miles to the gallon. The Hemi engine will fly, so you will need to pay close attention to your speed when you get on the open road. I opted for the DVD which, if you have children is a great choice. I also got a year of Sirius. The leather seats are very comfortable for short or long trips. I would definitely recommend this vehicle, as I have been very happy with mine.

We test drove several Trail Blazers and Ford Explorers and of course Dodge Durangos before we chose the Durango. What we noticed is the Durango and the Explorer were much more solid and had more power then the Trailblazer. Since weve owned our Durango we have averaged almost 19 MPG fuel efficiency, not bad for a V8. We have had the opportunity to take it on long and medium trips and we have found it to be very comfortable. We had 5 Adults on a trip of about 1500 miles and it was quite comfortable. We put down one side of the Third Row Seat to Store more luggage. We moved from an Ext. Minivan and the lack of storage space behind the 3rd row seat is the one negative for the Durango.
