Overview & Reviews
Two trim levels have been added -- SXT and SLT Adventurer. The SXT features roof rails, running boards and side moldings. The Adventurer includes a Thule roof rack, side steps, slush mats, cargo liner and organizer and unique wheels. Cloth heated seats are standard on all models this year (except the Limited, which sticks with leather heated seats). A full-screen navigation system is newly available.
- Strong V8 engines, agile handling, excellent ride quality, capable off-road, lots of cargo capacity, simple controls.
- Lousy mileage, sloppy fit and finish, needs more second-row legroom and storage, no stability control or parking sensors.

New car for the Used car guy - 2005 Dodge Durango
By Bob - November 29 - 9:31 pmI have always bought used cars because of the instant huge depreciation when it is driven off the dealers lot, but with the insentives and rebates offered to make way for the 06 models, this was an excellent deal. I am very impressed with the smooth ride and agile handling of this large, heavy SUV - this thing is rock solid, not a squeak anywhere. The 4.7L V8 engine has more than enough power to get out of its own way and haul an average size boat or trailer. The 4WD and antilock brakes make driving in snow effortless. I still prefer the more rugged styling of the older models and the dashboard seems a bit bland, but it dosent have overdone flair and glitz like other "luxury" models.

I traded my Dodge Ram for a Durango SXT - 2005 Dodge Durango
By Randall Hill - November 15 - 5:09 pmI decided to trade my Dodge Ram for a Durango after I heard about the great deal I could get on one. It all started when I decided to stop at the dealer to take a look at one and test drive it. 2 hours later I was taking it home.

Excellent Family Vehicle - 2005 Dodge Durango
By WillyBee - November 2 - 2:09 amMy Silver Durango has all the amenities that a growing family requires in a vehicle. Plenty of storage space, a great sound system with DVD player. The ride is very smooth and the seating comfortable. Great styling in the body and interior design. I absolutely love my Durango.

First SUV - 2005 Dodge Durango
By Philip - October 29 - 8:43 amThis is my first SUV but my fifteenth or so vehicle. I bought the absolute lowest end stripper model (only a trailer hitch added) and it is still quiet and well equipped. I wanted to be able to tow things and have towed a 1500 lb boat but just this weekend towed my sons Toyota (no, they dont run forever, either) 550 miles. It was very easy! with the 3.7 six, too. Mileage without Toyota: 22.3 MPG; with Toyota behind, 16.3 MPG. Lots of nice features for a trailer tower, too: a carpeted drawer in the back for hitches, balls and tools. Durango really is a bargain! and my wife loves to drive it, too.

Durango SLT HEMI - 2005 Dodge Durango
By JOE DIRT - October 28 - 4:06 amI have checked all the body panels for flush fits. Over all quality looks good. The leather seats seem a little hard for my likes. With the 4x4 lock on the Durango cuts through the snow like a snowmobile. As far as gas mileage I have gotten over 18mpg on all highway and 14mpg in the city with the hemi; it depends on your driving style. I would recommend the Durango to anyone; Chrysler hit a home run on this suv.

Durango, gas hogger - 2005 Dodge Durango
By Sonia - October 17 - 1:03 pmI think that the Durango is a real nice looking vehicle. The only thing that I dont like is the gas mileage. The tag on the vehicle said that I would get 19 in city and 24 on highway. They lied. I only get 15 in the city and about 14.5 on the highway. I made this purchase thinking that the gas mileage was not the greatest but it was ok. Now if Id known that the gas mileage was 15 in city and 14.5 on highway, I would of looked for another vehicle. Im not happy with the Durango.

A great SUV - 2005 Dodge Durango
By B M - October 1 - 4:57 pmI have been driving the Durango for 2 weeks now and absolutely love it. This replaced a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. It is very comfortable to drive and though it is large, it does not feel massive to me. The hood is short making it easy to see whats in front of you and good visibility makes is easy to park. The 4.7L V8 does what I expected with a 3 ton vehicle. It is not quick on the start, but does not feel like it is struggling. It has a great ride, handling, and turn radius for a truck. As for gas mileage, the overhead console says I average 15 on the street and 22 on the highway. I am use to driving SUVs and the Rodeo averaged 20mpg overall.

Hemi Durango - 2005 Dodge Durango
By RH PELTON - October 1 - 1:06 pmI have over 10,500 miles on my Hemi Durango. I average in the city 16+ MPG and on the highway a wopping 22.5+ average at 70mph cruse control on. Well built, very comfortable and no/low maintence. I use Moble-1 oil --10-40 (Florida driving) get the best performance and fun for SUV driving
