Overview & Reviews
Dodge's brute of a midsize 'ute receives numerous improvements for 2001. An electronic transfer case for its four-wheel drive system is now standard on 4WD models. A new instrument panel, center console with cupholders, interior trim and upgraded stereo has been added, and a tilt steering column is now standard on all Durangos. The 5.2-liter V8 engine is dropped, leaving the more efficient 4.7-liter V8 as standard equipment in both 4x2 and 4x4 Durangos. A variable-delay intermittent rear wiper is offered, and auto-dimming, heated outside power mirrors can be had on in SLT trim. A new appearance option group for the SLT includes 16-inch aluminum wheels, along with special body side moldings, running boards and lower panels. New 15-inch Sparkle Silver aluminum wheels are standard across the Durango lineup.
- Aggressive styling, large interior, powerful engine lineup.
- Poor gas mileage, stiff ride, lousy crash test scores.

Get outta Dodge - 2001 Dodge Durango
By tommythecat86 - November 3 - 4:47 pmI recently purchased a 2001 Dodge Durango. Engine blew due to some "mysterious oil loss". Dealership claims its our fault (of course they would...its still under warranty). The crappy engine is just part of the laundry of of problems. Electric windows that dont work (Hope I dont crash into a body of water). Multiple comfort options in the seats...dont work(anybody who drives has to be my height, no more no less). Brakes are junk. On the brighter side, it looks pretty and is very spacious...Yipeee!

Dodge is junk and service is a SCAM! - 2001 Dodge Durango
By jbarmywife - May 8 - 2:20 pmThe electrical system, brakes and engine are junk. This is my third Dodge and I have had problems with all of them. My 2005 Dodge Ram kept breaking down and every time wed take it in theyd charge us $100 and say theres nothing wrong with it. Same with my Durango, even with the check engine light on they say theres nothing wrong yet my car just stopped on he road. Its still not fixed and I cant sell it the way it is. Now my husband has a 99 pickup and you can clearly tell the cylinders are missing. It jerks you back every time you drive it and he took it in today. They charge him another $100 for nothing. It shows up on my friends diagnostics machine. SCAM!
