  • Love it - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Bought the 2 litre turbo-deisel model and getting the promised 6 litres to 100km. The motor is 100% reliable and I still have the original tyres at 46,000km (approx 29,000 miles. Maybe we got the export quality version, but everything looks good and goes well, only standard servicing costs spent, and we are about to travel across Australia in it with complete confidence. I did test drive the 1.8 petrol and found that wanting in power, but I can assure you that this one has plenty of go. Im a 6 footer and am very comfy. I cant understand why some complain so bitterly about it. Hey, and Im an Aussie supporting the US motor industry!!

Before I bought car I read reviews here n got alitte nervous. But I really like this car fun to drive. And not bad gas mileage about 26 mpg steady. I hope this review don t jinkx me. I bought an extended warranty direct because of what I read here. I plan on keeping car 4 a while. So bought a 5 yr 100 k mile hope I don t need it but I have in just in case. Im 6 ft 285 and the car is comfortable 4 me easy to get in and out of too.

This car has great acceleration and a sporty design with tons of room inside. It handles in snow and can pass like a beast. Mine has no problems and its at 65,000 as of today. My only complaint is the tiny gas tank. By the time your gas light is on youve usually gone through only 11 or so gallons of gas. I feel like a kid that has to go to the bathroom every ten minutes when Im stopping for gas every few days.

  • Regret - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I traded in an SUV that I LOVED for this thing. It has a very weak AC. There is a drink "cooler" in the glove box that is cooled by the AC. Pretty pointless if the AC doesnt even get cold. Youd be better off taking your cold drink and rubbing it on your face because that is the only way you will cool off in this car. The interior is too cramped and there are blind spots everywhere I look. I hate driving this car.

  • Caliber Is Fun - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I purchased one of the first Calibers available. We knew we were purchasing an inexpensively built car so high expectations for quality of the interior and ride were not a factor. It was a sharp, fun, inexpensive car. The fuel rating also sold us and is the only negative we have. We have driven the car 24,000 miles now and the typical overall mileage is around 23 mpg even though the "city" low rating is 26. This was a severe misstatement by Dodge. I have owned several new cars and trucks over my 35 years of driving and have always gotten at least the minimum reported mileage that was disclosed. Yet, we still love our little yellow Caliber!

  • Still Working Out The Bugs - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I traded in my full size Ram to save on gas and provide the household with 2 cars for getting around. 1st bug! The check engine light has bad wiring and we are waiting on Dodge to send the replacement. 2nd bug! The model we bought has a Firestone tire that is not released to the public yet. and it is on back order and guessed it! We had a flat that could not be patched. So after 3 weeks we are waiting on a tire and a new wire so the check engine light will work correct. I hope nothing is wrong with the engine because the dealership just told us to drive it there is no problem!

  • Country Blue Cool - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I wound up with the marine blue R/T due to the fact that the storm blue was pretty impossible to find, but now I am in love with the blue interior so I dont mind it so much. Took a few weeks to learn how to drive a car with not a lot of pick-up, but now I am totally used to that as well. Had Jeeps all my life and picked this over the Compass and do not regret decision!

  • Problems with the speakers. - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I have had problems with the speakers and radio in this car and had it in twice for the same problem. When the weather is below freezing, the speakers dont work, sometimes the radio wont work. By the time I was able to bring it in, radio was working so mechanics couldnt find a problem and fix it. Two separate times. Also check engine light on- needed a software upgrade. Other than these annoying problems, I like the car.

  • Very Satisfied Customer - 2007 Dodge Caliber

It definitely gets a lot of looks. Had many complements on it. Handles great on the ice and snow.

  • Not bad - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

Now Im a fussy car guy and this is the wifes car. I like the smooth CVT. It is a crossover so its higher with all that that brings to handling. The car feels big on the road which is good, and bad. Previous car PT Cruiser. This has a smaller engine, more pep, and better gas mileage - whats not to like? It doesnt have as much storage or clever nooks as the Cruiser. It is very smooth around town and is great for running errands but Firestone tires are noisy - cant wait to change them out. Good gas mileage. Overall - funky new design. Are there better dynamics out there - yes, but this is crossover. Is it better than a SUV - yes. Bang for the buck = excellent.
