  • Front end problems - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I bought the RT model in spring 2007. For the first 7 months, I could not have enough driving time with my car, it was great! lots of fun. But after 8 months, the 2 front shocks needed replacement. I couldnt believe it. Lucky, they where under warranty. I had them changed. Almost a year later, they needed changing again!! Then, afte the warranty ran out, the 2 front tables where finished, $300.00 each just for the parts! All this changed and know I think there is a rack and pinion problem, because it stills makes awful noises and one front shock is, for the 3rd time in need of replacement. I wish I could bring it back to the dealership and leave it there!! its everything but economic...

Well I bought this car used.. I had one as a rental car and thought it was neat. The design and such. I use it to commute 90 + miles a day.. lets see it has been in the shop 30 days already waiting on a new transmission, which thankfully was covered by the warranty I paid for. Then needed new tires, it has less than 40,000 miles on it. Which I am glad because the new tires seem to make it a quieter ride. Now recently I am noticing shifting problems with my new transmission! UGH!!

  • Some things about this car! - 2007 Dodge Caliber

My Dodge Caliber is great! its a fun car to drive. My only complaint is about the heavy behind trunk door. The tires wear out fast I had to replace them and the power steering pump wore out and I have to get it replaced. I dont know if there is a recall for power steering pumps going out. I only had my car for 3 years!

  • Unhappy In Michigan - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I purchased this car in Jan 08 w/ 18000 Miles on it. It now has 52000 miles and even with regular maintenance Ive had to replace the front suspension, Multi Function Switch, and multiple tires. I only get 15 MPG(Highawy), constant problems with vehicle alignment and tire air pressure, and sometimes the vehicle gets stuck in gears. I didnt think of the plastic interior when I bought it but Ive grow to hate it it is so hard and uncomfortable. The vehicle looks amazing, if dodge does one thing right it exterior appearance. But the interior looks and feels cheap and utilitarian. Thank God Im not upside down on what I owe on the car, I am trading it in this week. HUGE BLINDSPOTS!!!

  • Blind Spots--Front & Rear - 2007 Dodge Caliber

The bulbous styling of the 2007 Caliber makes it impossible to see narrow objects that are shorter than the bumpers height. Furthermore, the bumper does not "bump" but crumples. Resulting in major damage to the cars integral components (engine, alignment). This is because Dodge uses as a shock absorber behind the exterior frame in order to achieve the high MPG.

  • Love/Hate My Caliber - 2007 Dodge Caliber

My 2007 Caliber has just 48,000 miles and its crap. Tires are expensive to replace and wear out quickly. Interior is cramped. Blind spots everywhere. Turn signal comes on randomly (without using blinker) and wont go off. Front suspension is shot. AC only works well on high. It has been plaqued with one problem after another. I know many people who own Calibers and have yet to find anyone who is even remotely happy with theirs. Tried to trade it in but will only get about half of what I owe. They dont hold their value at all and depreciate quickly. Looks great, fun to drive, but very unreliable car.

  • Regret buying - 2007 Dodge Caliber

If you havent owned a Big 3 car in years, this car will justify that. I like the looks and the mileage is okay but this is the first car that I owned since the early 80s that would not start up on a cold morning. It finally did start after a few trys and pumping the gas. I have the feeling from reading some of the other reviews, that I wont be getting I lot of years out of this car.

  • Would not buy another one - 2007 Dodge Caliber

First inspection it would not pass. The tie rod was bad on less than 21000 miles. Tires worn out at 30000 and the noise and clunks from the rear. Now the transmission decided to quit working and no one has a clue. Its either 325 for some part or 3500 for transmission at 70000 miles I put over 250000 on a Toyota pu. Im going back to Toyota.

  • Be aware! Problem child! - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Since the purchase 6 months ago, vehicle has been in the shop 5 times and down for 2 weeks. This vehicle is not reliable at all. Cant trust it beyond the city limits. The check engine light came on 3 different times - told the gas cap was not on properly, 3rd time I made a remark that if it is not fixed I will persue the lemon law. They fixed the problem but was down for 1 week. Had to take in for recall ( cam bearing nuts ) Wife came out of work and the car would not start, had to tow into dealer and it took them 2 days to find the problem and had to wait for parts ( down another week ). Have tried to contact Chrysler, but it has been over 2 weeks and still cant get any answers!

  • Mileage lousy - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I am incredibly disappointed at the lousy gas mileage this car gets. I bought it because it was the only car in its class that advertised 26 mpg and many of the reviews raved about the great gas mileage. I dont know where these people live, but Im getting close to 20mph. I know Im using the air, but still, I was better off with my larger more powerful Intrepid.
