  • 70k here. No significant problems - 2007 Dodge Caliber

My car is a 2007 SXT with the CVT transmission. I dislike the blind spots, but otherwise, its a great 30mpg car.

  • Good but Im getting something else for College - 2007 Dodge Caliber

This car rides SO smooth. BUT it has horrible blind spots from the back side windows. The gas mileage is Awesome and so is the sound system. The acceleration is really slow. My parents say thats a good this for me but I beg to differ.

  • COSTS a lot to maintain - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I love this car - fun to drive, great fuel economy, and I can even fit my 9 ft surf board in it. However - its expensive to maintain. I just hit the 60,000 mile mark and because the Caliber has a variable transmission it takes, "a special kind of transmission fluid" and has to be done at the dealership. So the 60,000 service is going to cost over $650. I also just replaced the tires and since the Caliber has an odd tire size (lower profile) there are only a few tire manufactures who make that size and I spent over $900 on new tires. I do plan to keep the car for awhile - I just wasnt expecting such large chunks of money going out for routine maintenance on non-luxury vehicle.

  • She Loves it - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I bought this car in May of 06 for my wife and she loves it. The only issue we have had with the car is we had to replace the bushings for a squeak. I do wish the fuel mileage was better but it is better than my P.T. I did have to replace the tires early (25,000) but that was due to the dealership over inflating. The car runs and drive great and wife wont let me take her out of it.

  • Not too bad, good commuter car. - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

Ive had this car over 4 years with no major issues. I currently have over 71K miles on it. Front rotors warped at 18K miles, replacement rotors have been good thus far. Fuse for sunroof went twice, thats pretty much it on the problems. Replaced tires at over 60K miles, front brakes at 70K miles. Rear brakes are still original. Acceleration is poor, ABS doesnt work AT ALL in the snow. You have to pump the brakes. Overall, its a good commuter car for me. I do mostly highway driving. Fuel economy is not as good as they say. I average 26-27 miles per gallon. Also more spacious then it looks. My mom and I both fit in the back seat along with a child seat. Trunk door is very heavy.

  • This car is dangerous - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Bought this car two months ago and have been kicking myself since. So far the sway bars, and tie rods have been replaced. The oil light and gas cap light both came on and dealer couldnt figure out problem. My wife was driving the car up a hill and the car died, causing the brakes and steering wheel to lock and the car to go go out of control and over a ledge into a dirt mound. Had it in the shop numerous times and the mechanics at the dealership dont know whats wrong with it. You can get a quieter ride in an army tank. Do not buy this vehicle. Im afraid for the safety of my infant and wife every time they get in this vehicle.

  • Cute, fun, but loud w/front end issues - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I like the car but it is very loud, (road noise), it has developed a number of squeaks and the front end tie rod ends have needed replacing a couple of times already at only 37,000 miles. The car also has a lot of blind spots. I would never buy one again.

  • Wondering - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I have had my car for a year now and I am wondering why it fishtails when the car hits a dip or uneven payment? Is anyone else having this problem and how did you fix it. I have read the other reviews and it sounds like a lot of tire rods and arms have had to replaced. I think I need to have mine checked. I also have had to change tires since buying my car. I keep the scheduled maintenance. After reading reviews am worried about trade-in offers. I think I want to trade mine in. It scares me being so fishy. It makes me wonder what else is going on under the car with suspension.

  • Overall happy - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I bought my car used with 38,000 miles. Drove it from Boston to Georgia without any issues and quite comfortably too. So far only problem is with the ball joints/control arms wearing out, but thats likely due to the previous driver. I am still happy with it though. Drives comfortably, quiet inside, ok mpg, etc. The svt is a little strange. Takes a second to get pick-up after pressing the gas pedal. People complain about it, but they have made improvements with newer models. 2007 was the first yr, what do you expect?
