  • Make sure you have AAA for towing! - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Bought my car 6 months ago with 68K. Week 1: Whinning in the front end. Took it to the dealership and insisted they fix it. They replaced the passenger side wheel bearing. Cost: $0 Week 7: Airbag light comes on. Took it to a diffrent shop and they said a sensor went out....? Cost: $323.00 Week 11: Grinding in the front end (drivers side). Took it back to the shop. The ball joint went out. Apparently that is also connected to the tie rod end as one piece. Also making my tires wear bad on the inside of the tires. While there, had the battery replaced. Cost: $968.00 6 mo. after purchase: Stranded! Altenator died! Tow and repair. Cost: $548.00 If you dont need a car, Get this one!

  • Premature replacement of ball joints and control arms - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I’ve gone through the proper channels with Dodge/Chrysler to try to get a resolution on this matter but have been advised there is nothing they can do for me. At this point I just want it on record what my experience as a consumer has been like dealing with them on a manufacturing issue. I found out a few months ago that my car was in need of ball joints and control arms. The car was less than 5 years old with less than 60k miles when the problem started to occur. The dealership gave me a quote for repairs of $895.36. I am single mother just barely getting by so naturally I didn’t pay for the repairs because I don’t have that type of money. So week after week I just had to drive the car a

  • Cute, fun, but loud w/front end issues - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I like the comfort, look and gas mileage. I dont like the road noise, the front inner and outer tie rod ends have had to be replaced a number of times already at only 37000 miles. I would not advise buying this model. There are large blind spots.

  • Fantastic Utility for the Price - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

Bought the car 2 years ago and it has been a solid performer. We have put 25,000 miles on it with no major issues. It has been used for road trips, day trips, moving and commuting. We have been averaging 29 mpg. That said, its not very fun to drive. The cvt is not very responsive to sudden additions of throttle which makes it difficult to accelerate smoothly when moving along with traffic. It rides nice and handles ok if you are driving the speed limit but it doesnt inspire "spirited" driving. I plan to add after market springs to help it handle better and try to add rear disc brakes for better stopping. All in all, its a good car with lots of leg & head room and good utility.

  • Fun for 20K miles, then get rid of it! - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

I loved this car for the longest time and I still do love it. But since Ive gotten it, Ive had several MAJOR projects done it to fix issues. Here is a short list of some of the issues and costs that Ive had to endure: -Gas tank gauge overflowing and not shutting off gas pump immediately causing spill (covered under warranty) -Clock spring faulty in steering wheel and causing clicking noise whenever steering (covered under warranty) -Break squeak from worn joints (covered under -Trans Leak ($400 but tried to charge me $800) -Worn ball joints ($722) -Trans overheat causing vehicle to shut down (bringing in next week) The last 3 have happened within 4 months of each other. DO NOT BUY!

  • Looks good, but loads of trouble - 2007 Dodge Caliber
    By -

This little car has been trouble from the start. We have taken this to the dealer every year for the past 3 years in order to get it to pass emissions. Then just this past weekend the Transmission went out. The warranty is 3 yrs and 36 thou miles. This will cost us $4500 since the CVT transmission cannot be rebuilt. It may look good on the outside and have several good features, but is a load of crap. here are just a few of the things weve done to it, starting about a year after we bought it. Brakes (once a year), Tie rods (once), Emissions sensors (every year), lights (once). I would not buy one of these cars or any Dodge product ever again.

  • Dont buy it used - 2007 Dodge Caliber

I loved the style of this car when it first came out--a mini version of my hubbys magnum. That love affair ended as soon as the first rain hit my city. The car had an interior water leak that to this day can not be found and fixed. I had to replace the shocks due to cracking (under warranty). Constant issues with starting the car, blown gear shifter fuse due to constant jumping even though I was told the battery was good. And when I brake over a gritty surface with new tires, fully inflated the car has a tendency to slide. I think I got a lemon but it sounds like a lot of people have issues with this car

  • Big mistake, look twice and buy foreign - 2007 Dodge Caliber

Nothing but trouble from day one. Had 12 miles on it and it has has been back to the dealer 6 times now from electrical issues to lag time in acceleration, covered under warranty. A metal skid plate that grounded down and had to be replaced, covered and now at 72,000 miles both ball joints are pretty much shot, not covered!I am meticulous about this car with oil changes, checking tire pressure and accelerating and breaking as gently as i can to make this car last me 20 years, so having something like this break was just unbelievable. Unreal. Gasket leaked around tail light, not covered. Short in wire that blew out headlight, covered but not the headlight. Unacceptable! Do not buy one
