Overview & Reviews
A convertible joins the PT Cruiser lineup for 2005.
- Distinctive styling inside and out, spacious cabin with multiconfigurable rear seats, smooth ride, spirited acceleration on turbo models, reasonable pricing.
- Acceleration can be sluggish with base engine, awkward seating position for shorter drivers, unimpressive fuel economy.

Had it for ~6 months and loving it! - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By trbenedict - September 30 - 4:06 amI was determined to own a convertible before I was 30. Financially, the choice fell between the new 2005 PT Cruiser and the 2005 Mustang (new design). Both are comparably priced, but the test drive sold me on the Cruiser. It handles very well, and actually has enough room to seat 4 average sized adults comfortably! Im 510 and my husband is 6 tall, but weve never had a problem with head or elbow room. Also, the Cruiser seats the driver higher off of the road. The seats are more like captains chairs than bucket seats. The only problem we have is that the fuel economy is comparable to a small truck, like the Ford Ranger than any car its size. We accept this because it solidly built

Car is nice but needs more spice - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By lori feldman - September 29 - 1:26 amThe car is fun to drive but lacks in some amenities. I miss having electronic seats and stereo controls on the wheel. Also miss having electronic gas countdown miles to empty. The converrtible top is hard to close, I have to hang on it to clip it back in place. The car has the worst turning radius that Ive ever encountered. I have to make 3 pt turns all day!

I love my PT Cruiser Convertible! - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Robin - August 30 - 12:10 pmWe were not in the market for a PT Cruiser at all when we began to car shop. We stumbled across ours and fell in love! It is so much fun to drive and easy to maintain.

Dream Cruiser Series 4 - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Joanne - August 7 - 6:50 amMy "Dream " car! Absolutely am in love with it. I enjoy the enhanced pick-up that it has but I do notice the fuel economy is slightly less. I will more than likely get another one in the future.

Time Will Tell - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By John1096 - August 6 - 6:00 amThis vehicle is basically for my wife..she liked the "look". What I have found is that the PT cruiser makes good use of interior space, is comfortable and fun to drive. I am not sure if the "Fun" factor will remain as time goes on..that is small problems, parts gets loose , rattles performance drops etc...Only Time Will Tell!

Great car but one nagging flaw - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By mobiledj - July 28 - 12:57 amIts like a clown car: With back seats out I haul three 15-inch speakers sitting upright, DJ box, 2 big tubs of wires/cables, 8 flood lamps, 2 speaker stands, 3 mic stands, 40-in folding table, rolled carpet, case of cordless mics, folding hand truck, video monitor and stand, laptop, hard drive, props and subwoofer (front seat). Never stranded in 154,000 mi. Honest 23 mpg mixed, 28-30 highway. Easy on tires, brakes. Adequate power with 5M. But on 3rd $1,200 engine fan assembly! Fans last maybe 3 years and then A/C overheats until new fan installed. Great ride, decent handling. Quiet. Like all twin-cam Chryslers, it uses oil. Im 62" and fit comfortably. Aiming for 200,000 mi as on my Neon.

PT Cruiser GT Convertible - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Jim from Fort Wayne - June 7 - 10:00 amMy wife and I love this car. It is the perfect convertible for snow belters. With front wheel drive we can use it year round. The insulation of the soft top is very impressive for this price range as is the ease of operation of the top. We like the fact that lowering the top does not affect the trunk space too.

Mr Ts PT - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Mikey - June 2 - 10:10 amIve had my PT Touring Edition for 5.5 years. For the most part it has been a very reliable, consistent performer. Im a big 63" guy and I test drove a lot of small SUV-type vehicles. The Cruiser was one of the few that gave me plenty of leg room without banging mt right knee into a center dashboard console. I kept to the maintenance schedule and after 71,000 miles, other than front brakes, tires and a leaking valve cover gasket I havent had to put any money into it. Now for the bad news - it has a very wide turning circle which is very annoying trying to park in tight spots. The mpg is not that great for 2.4 4 liter engine and the engine is dog while running the AC.
