Overview & Reviews
A convertible joins the PT Cruiser lineup for 2005.
- Distinctive styling inside and out, spacious cabin with multiconfigurable rear seats, smooth ride, spirited acceleration on turbo models, reasonable pricing.
- Acceleration can be sluggish with base engine, awkward seating position for shorter drivers, unimpressive fuel economy.

Fun and eye catching! - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Jason - April 6 - 1:06 amJust wanted to say I have had my Convert for over a year now and have over 18000 miles on it and have loved every min of it. It still gets looks everywhere I go. It has plenty of pickup for passing and freeway driving.

my pt - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By whanna - March 29 - 2:23 pmThis car has the power it needs for a fast pick up. The ride is wonderfully smooth, and great handling. The ONLY drawback with its design is the huge blind spot with the top up. So the solution, of course, is to drive with the top down, whenever possible. Isnt that why we bought the convertible?

5 spd manual PT cruiser - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By JB - March 14 - 6:53 pmI have had the car for 3 years and and have driven nearly 48,000 miles. The fuel economy is not very good and they car feels like a toy on the highway. The manual transmission is ok but the car has very limited power.

Fun PT Cruiser Convertible - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Wm Mangano - March 12 - 1:33 pmNo doubt about it, this car not only performs well it looks good doing it. I have owned many new cars, and by far this is the most fun to drive.

Poor gas mileage and VERY poor in frontal - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Gloria - February 20 - 10:50 pmWe had alot of problems with the starter switch and in a frontal crash the engine came up into the firewall which caused alot of personal injuries to driver and passanger. We did not get good mileage in city driving.

Wind in your hair - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Gar4real - February 8 - 8:03 pmThis is my second PT Cruiser and it is even more fun to drive than the first one. The retro styling coupled with modern amenities make the Cruiser the best of all possible choices. The car is quiet and windproof a real feat for a convertible. I have the standard base model with a 150 hp engine and a 5 speed manual transmission. I have never noticed the lack of power some people write about with the base engine and auto transmission. Fun to drive, always attract attention, perfect for a day in the sun.

Best Convertible I have ever owned - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Mermelstein - February 6 - 4:36 amThis is the 4th convertible that we have owned. The others were leaky and not built as solidly. This one is frisky and fun to drive. The turning radius is very wide but this is the only negative that we have found. It is very comfortable and the back seat is roomy and the most comfortable of any other convertible that we have owned. It is also very quiet. We have our first GPS in this one. It gets us where we want to go. In fact, we wont buy another car without one.

Third Cruiser - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Andy - January 25 - 5:13 amThis is our third PT Cruiser. We had a 01,03 GT, and now our 05. The GT was probably the best car of the three a lot of fun to drive and it was a 5 speed, the other 2 are automatics. Until now we have had good luck with the cruisers. We should have researched this year a little more before we bought it. At 45,000 mile control arm bushing are bad, had to have them replaced, at 48,000 miles fan motor had to be fixed drawing to many amps when air conditioner is on. We do like the Chrysler car styles, but workmanship seems to be fair. Good thing i have the extended warranty 7/70000. this will probably be our last Chrysler product.
