Overview & Reviews
A convertible joins the PT Cruiser lineup for 2005.
- Distinctive styling inside and out, spacious cabin with multiconfigurable rear seats, smooth ride, spirited acceleration on turbo models, reasonable pricing.
- Acceleration can be sluggish with base engine, awkward seating position for shorter drivers, unimpressive fuel economy.

Classy Silver Convertible with verve - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By amerigo88 - April 7 - 5:30 amDriving this convertible for 3 weeks now. Took 1,000 mile trip second week. MPG fluctuates a lot, but looks like will be close to 22 city/29 hwy. Ive seen 21 low and 40(!)high so far. Top is almost always down and a/c off. Only hiccup was fuel gauge dropped to dead empty for about 15 minutes, but no problems since. Trunk setup is surprisingly roomy and stooping is not as bad as I expected. My girls act like the back seat is in a roller coaster-fun. Turning circle a bit wide. Haggled dealer into AM/FM/CD/MP3 player to replace AM/FM/Cassette due to some bait and switch resentment. Glad I did. Base audio sounds rather muddy, though. 70 mph with top down and windows up is fine on freeway.

Worlds Best Kept Secret - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Pete Rackett - April 3 - 12:43 pmI bought the PT Cruiser because I was looking for a car with van capabilities but not a van appearance or van handling. I commute 150 miles round trip daily and the PT Cruiser is still a fun drive and easy handling vehicle. The stick shift gives more than enough get up and go and it can carry a huge load with the two back seats removed.

love it - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By BethThor - March 26 - 3:20 amThe only complaint is some minor whirring and whislte from the engine at times. Probably the turbo pressuring up and relieving pressure when coming down. Yee Hah!

a bargin - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By happy owner - March 23 - 9:13 pmwe bought our car for less than 11k brand new without any hassle. The car is a joy to drive and feels nothing like the bargain basement deal it was. We are thrilled with it. The car we trade in cost twice as much in 1998 and wasnt put together as well as our PT.

A Good Choice - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Mike M. - March 1 - 12:30 pmI havent had my PT for that long but so far I love it. I needed to get a car quickly as my old car died and after a few days of trying to figure out what I could afford I found the PT offered the most for the price. For the mileage and car payment I wanted to be within, I could only afford a used economy car. I got my Certified Used PT with a great warranty and it doesnt feel or look like an economy car. I feel like I am driving something unique, a car that anyone can love; rich or poor, young or old, male or female, and so on. I cant think of any other well priced car which has more appeal and original styling. Corolla, Civic, Cobalt, Focus, Elantra = forgettable.

PT fun!! - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By Yvonne - February 25 - 3:50 pmMy last fun car was a BMW M3. It was hard to get in and out of, difficult to shift, impossible for rear passengers, very expensive and not driven very often. The PT GT is a kick to drive, comfortable, versitle, and oh so cute. I wouldnt trade it for anything.

cheep fun - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By stu - February 8 - 7:13 amThis car has almost been trouble free except for the gas gauge problem. Three times to the dealer to fix <19 days total>. Other than that its been trouble free. I have 34,000 miles on it. Very bad gas mileage only 19-20 in the city and not much better on the highway. overall the most for your money than any car out there.

I love my Baby !! - 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser
By mare - January 30 - 7:30 amThis car is so much fun to drive!! I always get stopped by people to ask about it. It handles the road very well. I live in the north east and was going to take it off the road for the winter but did not want to give it up. I have been very impressed on the way it handles in the ice and snow

By Larry - January 28 - 7:26 pmGreat car that is fun to drive and very versital. Gas mileage is around 26mpg on the highway, a little over 20 around town. Surprisingly good performance for a 4cyl. I recommend one for anyone looking for a good all a round transportation.
